Dilip Chhabria's son gets pre-arrest bail in cheating case

Mother Cherry Chhabria, wife Anushree and aunt Kanchan have also been booked in the case.

Dilip Chhabria's son Bonito Chhabria, has been granted anticipatory bail in a Rs 22 crore cheating case.

The 29-year old along with his father, mother Cherry Chhabria, wife Anushree and aunt Kanchan had been booked in the case filed by auto parts dealer Indermal Ramani.

Ramani had approached the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police claiming that Dilip Chhabria owed him around Rs. 18 crore for a consignment of parts and had borrowed some money for investment.

In December 2020, Dilip Chhabria was arrested under section 420 and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

After 1 month in jail, Dilip Chhabria's bail request rejected

A Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court has rejected both the bail applications filed by the car designer in the two cases filed against him.

Last month, Dilip Chhabria was arrested in a cheating case. Now, a Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court has rejected both the bail applications filed by the car designer in the two cases filed against him.

One of the case includes a cheating case wherein loans were taken against 90 cars sold by the company. In some instances, loans were taken for cars already sold. According to the Police, Chhabria and his company had availed loans from non-banking financial companies (NBFC) by posing as customers wanting to buy DC sports cars. An average loan of Rs. 42 lakh per car was availed.

The second case involved comedian Kapil Sharma, who is said to have paid Chhabria Rs. 5.7 crore towards a vanity van. Chhabria has failed to deliver the said van.

Car designer Dilip Chhabria arrested in cheating case

Chhabria's DC Avanti sports car has also been confiscated by the police.

The Mumbai crime branch have arrested car designer Dilip Chhabria in a cheating and forgery case. Chhabria has been booked under section 420 and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Mumbai police haven't provided any details about the case, however it has been reported that the offence was filed on December 19. Chhabria was arrested by API Sachin Vaze and his team. A car linked to the case was also confiscated and has been parked at the Mumbai Police headquarters.

Dilip Chhabria is the founder of DC Design - a company that builds custom cars and body kits. In 2015, the company launched the DC Avanti - a 2-seater sports car.

DC Design reveals body kit for Mahindra Thar

DC Design's body kit for the new Mahindra Thar appears to make it wider and taller.

DC Design has revealed a new body kit for the Mahindra Thar. The off-roader comes equipped with lifted suspension and has custom wheels wrapped in fatter tyres.

The DC Design Thar gets a redesigned front fascia featuring a 7-slat grille, smaller headlamps, a new bonnet, vents at the base of the windscreen, and redesigned bumpers. At the rear, it gets a pair of tail lamps on either sides. The SUV also gets larger and wider wheel arches and a new hardtop.

The Thar is available with two engine options. These include a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mStallion petrol that produces 150 BHP and 320 Nm and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that makes 130 BHP and 320 Nm. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive with a manual shift transfer case is standard across all variants.

DC Design in talks with carmakers for capital infusion

DC Design is reportedly in talks with carmakers for a capital infusion. Dilip Chhabria, automobile designer and the owner of DC Design has told the media that he is willing to sell a majority or minority stake depending on the valuation. The company is looking for a carmaker with a large distribution network as it would help make its own products more accessible to customers.

Brands like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors have started offering customization options on some of their models. Maruti Suzuki offers around 120 customization options including body kits, alloy wheels, exterior graphics and roof wraps to name a few. Tata offers similar personalization options on the Nexon as part of their 'Imaginator' online platform.

Dilip Chhabria founded DC Design in 1993. The company builds customized cars, vanity vans, airplane interiors and custom utility vehicles. In 2015, DC Design launched the DC Avanti 2-seater sports car. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 250 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It is claimed to do 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 200 km/h.

DC Design to enter bike customization market

DC Design is entering into the bike customisation market with the launch of a sub brand - DC2. This new arm will be dedicated to design and offer customised kits for a wide range of motorcycles in the Indian market. The company has kick started its motorcycle customization business by unveiling its first custom bike, called the DC2 CarbonShot. It is based on a Royal Enfield Bullet 350.

The DC2 Carbon Shot comes with an all-LED headlamp while the front indicators have been placed in billet casing. The front and rear fenders are made of real carbonfibre. The bike gets a single rider seat built from steel and leather, which also gets integrated LEDs that function as tail light and rear indicators. A custom fuel tank cover has been fabricated using billet, chrome and carbonfibre, which bolts on to the original fuel tank to offer a retro look. The air filter and battery cover are said to have been designed by taking inspiration from luxury watches. They are made of a mixture of billet aluminium and carbon.

The company hasn't fiddled with any major components of the bike, including the suspension, frame, engine, instrument cluster and brakes. Bookings for the DC2 CarbonShot are currently underway. The entire customization kit costs Rs. 76,000 (exclusive of the price of the stock bike).

DC Design Store now open at Mumbai International Airport

DC Design has inaugurated its new store in Mumbai, located at Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA). This outlet will now be the sole DC Design store in the city. With this store, the Mumbai airport has become the first airport in the country to accommodate a DC Design store.

The company's first indigenously made car, the DC Avanti will be on display at the DC Design store in Mumbai. DC markets the Avanti as India's most affordable supercar. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is rated at 248 BHP and develops 340 Nm of torque. It comes with a rear wheel drive setup, and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Visitors at the DC store at CSIA will also be able to know about other remodelled and customized cars from the DC portfolio.

DC hopes to attract significant foot fall of travellers at its store in the airport's premises.
