Also today in the morning i noticed the light actually goes off for few seconds and then comes back and once your start the car it doesnt glow any more .
As pointed by the others,it could be a weak battery, apart from that could be a loose connector. This incident happened to me 4 times in six months, though they used to clear it of with the S.D.T.At one point of time the SVC refused to look at my vehicle, which ultimately forced me to draft a complaint resulting in a quick action from the dealer.Make sure you get the snag diagnosed completely.

Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II 50k kms Update Page 1

I posted this query in the "Does your swift rattle?" thread but no response so far. Thought of posting it here as this is the reference repository for all swift owners !

Front doors of the car make quite a loud rattle when the glass is half down and a mild rattle when glass is fully up or down while going over bad/uneven roads. I have aftermarket power windows fitted. Rattling was there even before fitting the power windows but it seems to be getting worse after this modification. I am a bit worried to try DIY damping stuff due to the power window setup.
My question is, will damping fix the problem? If so, is there any good shop where I can get this done in Kochi?

@Mods, Please delete this post if you feel it is duplicate posting or not appropriate in this thread.

I agree with you completely. Even my Swift makes a lot of rattles! Both the front doors rattle in my swift even with the windows fully up. They rattle very badly over a bad road. The suspension is also very bad, it amplifies the bumps and pot holes on the roads instead of making them less bad.

Present battery > 3 years life + above indicators lighting up = 95% chance that the battery is weak. Although some people reported battery going kaput in 2 years also :( .

Called up my regular SA and informed him about the issue and drove straight to the MASS .
SA connected the SDT , and guess what, " NO ERRORS" recorded .
Tried the same a couple of times , but still no errors .So cleared the error and started looking for reason for the same .

Then he checked all the data and found that value for MAF ( if im not wrong ) was lower than what its value should read in idle state.
He told that while idle it should read around 7-9 and now it was reading around 4.3 .
So he said the air filter might be really dusty becuase of which the reading doesn't look ok and that could have resulted in the service light.

He took the car inside the service bay and asked someone to clean the air filter and also its connectors properly .
And seriously, the filter was really really dirty.

Air filter was cleaned and placed back in.

Again checked the value and now it was reading around 8 .
He also tired to crosscheck the same reading for another diesel Ritz, but there was not a single DDIS Ritz @ that point of time in the service center .

I asked him to get the battery also checked , he immediately called the battery guy who connected some device to the battery . The device printed a slip ( like a slip which we get when we swipe our bank cards) which had all the data printed for the battery.

He reviewed the same and confirmed battery is perfectly fine.

He also checked all the fluid levels, connect points everything, and all looked good.

He also told me , usually a air filter change is done @ 20k kms service , but he told me that i can get the same done when i go for the 15k kms engine oil change next week.

So not sure what exactly was the cause for the light to come up .

Lets hope i don't face this service light issue any more.

Team,
What is A/C filter ? how does it look like and where does it fit ?

BBT,
Which mass in PUNE did you get the service done from ?

My car(DDiS) used to climb inclines in 2nd gear with ease, now it is struggling, I am forced to downshift to 1st gear. Looks like it is time to clean the air filter again.

Regarding the rattles, ask the MASS to replace the clips/pins of all the four door trims, it should help.

I had the same problem. Not with the doors but somewhere behind the rear seat. After countless consultations with SA's they couldnt find the problem. It was a minor one. I had pushed the seat belts between the seats. This fell below the seat and made the sound.

Anyways, coming back to your query, I would ask you to check out Emperor or Galaxy for damping solution.

I still experience many rattles. Low profile tires adds few more to this.

Thanks Naveen. Let me check out Emperor/Galaxy. Do you know anyone on this forum who have done this (for Swift) at Kochi? I just wanted to know the effectiveness before spending money.
As for the other minor rattles(seatbelts, dashboard etc) , I am forcing myself to ignore them

From the snag, what i could infere a number of parameters maybe related to the svs light,if an error does get generated, even if the error gets rectified somehow, for the light to get reset it has to be done only with an S.D.T.Otherwise when the diagnostic tool was hooked up it should have shown an error code.So at some point of time an error signal trips the sensor hereby causing the svs light to come up.Just my 10 cents.

Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II 50k kms Update Page 1

About a month back the SVC light and Fuel filter light lit up on the dashboard. I knew it was the battery (Car is almost 4yrs old and done 50K). Got a new battery and kept delaying the visit to the service center to get the error codes cleared. Everytime the SVC light did not go off before cranking the engine. Drove for about 1000kms this way. Now the SVC light goes off normally like before. I did not have to visit the service center to get the error codes cleared. Strange!!!!

Got it serviced at Sai Service in Dapodi. The service advisor was a guy called Shivu Shinnur.

W.r.t. the A/C filter, just do a search in the forums here and you should be able to see some hits from people who reported that they saw it in their service bill in the 2nd or 3rd service. Its a filter that sits in the air vent for the A/C and can be found behind the dashboard of the swift. You should also be able to see a post with DIY instructions to clean the vent (some people had issues with rats making their nests here if you turned off the internal air circulation button on the A/C controls)

Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II 50k kms Update Page 1

Filled up Gulf Max TD yesterday with engine flush with Wurth. The car has run about 39K KM.

Würth UK Ltd. - Additives - Engine Flush and Cleaner
Gulf Max TD 15W-40 - Engine Oil for Cars and Utility Vehicles by Gulf Oil

The gulf oil is CI4 and is easily available at Kolkata and cheap too. Delvac MX is not available near my home. Run only ~10KM after the oil change. But the engine note is definitely better. Will post detailed report after I run ~1K KM.

Total cost:
Wurth flush : Rs. 650
Engine oil : Rs. 870 for 4lt
engine oil filter: Rs. 360
Labour: Rs. 80 (got it done at a local service centre).

However next change will be Delvac MX or Delvac 1 and then I'll decide which one to stick with .

Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II 50k kms Update Page 1

Guys,
Need some help here.
Being Sunday today, was doing a normal cursory check of my car engine bay today and noticed this oil leak (in the images below).

Would be taking the car to MASS next Saturday. The car was servived at 40K and is now at 41.5K and I would be driving approx 250 Kms before Saturday. Hope that is ok too.

From the images, it looks like it might have been there post service. Dont know how I missed the same till now

Any pointers on what can be the issue.

Cheers
f1fan

This is the area (marked in red) in the engine bay where I noticed this link

The oil level looks ok. Hence I feel that the leak is not that bad (hopefully)

Nothing strange, its normal. The error code clears off after couple of 100 kms without any error registrations.

Not good, please get it checked. Is it coolant plumbing.

Oil seems to have fallen from valve cover? Am not sure, i will have to check my cars bay to have a better idea. Too much of peeping under DwArF bonnet has taken its toll

Couldn't wait till the weekend, hence took half a day off from work and took the car today morning to MASS. They said that the culprit were some loose clips ( You can see one of them in the center of the third snap completely covered in oil) near the cables and were replaced/fixed and the whole area was cleaned and the car was given back to me.

Hope it was really something that silly. Will keep you all posted.

Regarding peeping, we hope that you still peep under snow white's bonnet too as this thread is our bible and you one of the authors. We don't want you to go down the Jeeper route. Have lost quite a few T-bhpians to that
