Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

Hi Majumdarda, that's good to hear that it was your first 'One Ride' and you were able to make it. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it here in Chennai; would have been my first too. Alas, there's always a next time! Keep Thumping!

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

So today Amun-Ra has completed his third servicing with 6244 on the odometer.

The mild issues that I had highlighted in the past before going to the servicing are resolved now.

>Oil leak at the blocks (It could not be resolved by tightening)

Solution :- Rocker Cover gasket (both inlet and exhaust) had to be replaced. Cost: Rs. 51 per piece.

> Slight metallic sound coming from the rear, but not related to Shockers.

Solution :- The root cause was identified being the plastic chain guard. It was removed and then fixed again. No more sounds coming now and its a smooth ride.

Over all cost to pocket for third Servicing is Rs. 1095/-.

Some snaps as below :-

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

Had a great ride with friends this Sunday, on account of free-time-not-willing-to-spend-idle.

We started around 11:00 AM and wrapped up around 3:00 PM, post which we went to friend's place [and constitutes cannot be discussed here]

In short the day was quite exciting with getting to gear up guys from their cozy sleeps to tanning one in the scorching sun and jumping bullets. Yes, it was indeed jumping bullets as the roads were semi-off road and all of a sudden we all seemed to be in some nameless hurry heading for a nameless destination, with only constraint being time

Off course the drive was risky in such a manner, but how else do you make up a ride more livelier when you have the overhead sun making it whole lot brighter.

Some Snaps are as follows :-

Apt attention to leader

Band of Brothers

For a Successful Ride

Mud Storm

Perfect Stance and Balance

The silent blacked out observer (Amun-Ra)

Best regards,

Bikramjit.

P.S. :- Slides etc that are shown above are being performed by well trained guys and it is not expected others to follow the same, unless you have the same expertise and control on your vehicle.

Hey Abhishek,

Welcome aboard brother. Let me know once you have your Bull. I will be looking forward to meet you pretty soon.

By the way, there is one news which practically I am not very happy about. Seems that all April on-wards production models are having the new RE logo.

Which one are you having?

Let me update in details in the bullet section, so that I can gather the views of all.

Kind regards,

Bikramjit.

No idea about the logo mate. But if it's post April I should be getting the new one I'm assuming.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

Trip to Bhatghar Dam, Bhor.
Date : 10th - 11th May (evening to morning)

Total distance from home to destination and back is 100 odd kilometers, but the fun that we all had (38 Bullets plus few others along with a Gypsy and Innova) is beyond words.

It was fun with camping besides the dam, bonfire, tandoors and a clear night with countless stars just above you to give company. Stars are something which I used to observe/stare(sometimes half duplex communication too) while I was at my hometown, but after coming to Pune, such a wonderful "Starry" night was unimaginable. It was one of the most memorable night outs which I have had and all the credits goes to our group buddies from BRC Pune. Thank you all.

Some of the "decent" images which I am am sure can be shared with my greater family here at tBHP are below, but obviously it was some herculean task to capture all moments

Lighting up a bonfire with the help of a torch as initially it was pitch dark.

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"-img_8428002_1.jpg

The bonfire thus came alive after innumerable tries and hard-work.

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"-img_8442002_1.jpg

Dancing to the tune of mild breeze, throwing its streaky flames in every direction.

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"-img_8442004_1.jpg

Yes, we had tandoori on the house and it seems that everybody was more interested to be seating there only. The initial pieces just vanished into thin air, nevertheless good thoughts of brotherhood prevailed, and we got to enjoy the delicacy too.

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"-img_8453002_1.jpg

The night ended quite late and the morning was too soon, too chilling.

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"-img_8487002_1.jpg

Amun-Ra had his own share of morning bath, under the clear blue sky. I had some doubts if he will come alive so soon, but I was wrong. Choke + ES and back on fire, ready to move. Love you Amun-Ra.

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"-img_8484002_1.jpg

Last but not the least, the below is dedicated explicitly to my Amun-Ra, for being there with me all with this time and to be there with me for time eternity. Thank you dear. Take care.

Best regards,

Mate, as per the RE website, seems that you are going to get your B500 with the new logo and lettering.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

A retrospect : My New Moto E through the eyes of the old Lumia 510.
Its time to adieu the 510, welcoming the E. Yes the Lumia will now go into hibernation, only to feel the fresh air in occasions (along with the Talkabout, the 3110, the 3115, the Samsung X100 & C100 brothers, the GTS-5233S).

Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"-moto-e.jpg

If someone wonders that why I am uploading this non automotive news over here, its just because from now onward, new images on the go will be captured by the E.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

Had a close save yesterday.

Last night at around 10 while coming home, there was a stretch wherein stretches have been dug up and then repatched. This has been done in perfect rectangles. The result is that all off a sudden you have certain section which is below the road surface. I was travelling in around 60 I believe where in I saw one of these, the front tyres were already at the brim of the cut and my better sense instructed to take on this, but don't know why I tried to do a last minute circus maneuver. Result was that the front tyre tried to come out of the ridge through the edges, it failed but obvious and I had some serious wobbling on the tarmac. All this probably took not more than one or two seconds, but thankfully I was in control.

Why I tried to do that crazy maneuver knowing fully well the adversaries, is something I am still pondering on?

The tires are all stock and thankfully the grip was excellent. Might be as the speed was less so it did not loosen the grip, but those fraction of seconds definitely gave me some jolts with Amun-Ra.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

Last night while returning from office I observed that right side tiger lamp is not working. A few minutes back I opened up the casing and it seems that the filament is blown. Now question is should I be going for a regular one or will the LEDs be a direct fit? Also can I presume that LEDs will not cause any nuisance to the electrical and wiring.

Please advise.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

LED's that fit the socket are available but many of them, being diodes, are directional.
That is to say, the power supplied to them must be of the correct polarity.

Slightly more expensive are the LED's that are made for use with AC/DC circuits.
They will work regardless of the polarity of the wiring and socket as long as the correct voltage is supplied.

Some of the electrical circuits in the Royal Enfields may be wired such that a normally negative (-) contact is positive (+) and visa versa so it is wise to spend the extra money to buy the AC/DC LED's if you decide to use them instead of a standard incandescent bulb.
