Till the first two servicing is over, it is always advisable to stick within 60 kmph. Though at times you may feel the urge to throttle up, but try to be within 60. Post second servicing, you can start to open up the throttle in small increments, but again its advisable not to cross 80.

Amun-Ra is approaching its fourth servicing, and my comfort zone is 70-80 kmph.

Hi Guys,

I am happy to tell all that I am getting my Bullet 500 in a week. Have paid the full amount, just waiting for the delivery. I have already used TB350(2006) for some 5 years. Later sold it for reasons which I am still trying to understand 😝😅. I had actually booked an DS but long waiting period was hard to swallow. Yesterday called the showroom and luckily they had Bullet 500 readily available and one of close to RE friend told its a better bike. So went for it. He also asked me keep it simple till a year and then I can tinker with it. I don't think I need to ask what all to be taken care while taking delivery as it has been discussed here many times. But please guide me in anything which would need special attention.

In Addition what do you say about this air filter. Has anyone used it and comment on the outcome?

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

Hello Guys, might be an inappropriate post here. I was planning to buy a classic chrome motorcycle. Lately i've been attracted by the standard 500. i've owned a black Classic 500 from 2010-'11 but i'm still a novice among bulleteers. So can anybody with some experience give a quick comparo on both these bikes. Main factors are Ride & Seat Comfort and power delivery.
Thanks guys

Girish
I bought one for my fuel injected G500 (Electra) and was disappointed with it.

My fuel economy went down. The engines power went down.

Having spent a large sum of money for the filter I gave it all of the chances possible to prove itself and ended up placing it on a shelf and re-installing the original pleated paper air filter that came with my motorcycle.

With the old paper filter installed the fuel economy returned as did the engine power.

With that in mind, I bought a brand new Royal Enfield paper air filter and installed it and my bike is happily thumping down the road.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

Hi Veelubai,

The primary difference apart from the design is its fuel intake. The Classic 500 being electronic fuel injected while the standard 500 being carburetor . The EFI gives the classic an extra BHP and slightly better torque at mid range on the other hand standard get a better overall mileage .

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 : "Amun-Ra"

Idling Problem resolved

Amun-Ra had some idling problem and it was resolved to a great extent after I came to know about the vapor issue. But still, sometimes, at signals, the engine would have died if it had to stay idling for more than a minute or so. But obvious it did not create any problems, but yes, who does not like to seat idle on a thumping bullet. Anyways, got to know about Ramesh / Suresh from our biker buddies and made the long pending visit. The problem was identified as incorrect mixture of air and it was rectified. Also the spark plug gaps were checked and adjusted slightly. Nevertheless, Amun-Ra gives a constant hum (if not a roaring thump ) while in idle and I am loving it.

On discussion with regards to the ES problem, he had a look and advised me to get it replaced while still under warranty. Per Brahma Motors, if the ES works after applying choke, then there is no fault in the ES mechanism, but some adjustments and settings needs to be done (unfortunately they could not figure out what setting even after Second and Third servicing). Per Ramesh, if ES works after choke, it means that fuel is not getting proper air-fuel ratio; But as its working effectively in KS mode, therefore its best to have the starter motor etc replaced within warranty. Further he informs that the price to procure one is approx 8-9K, and RE will promptly change it the moment I am out of the warranty protection.

Now I want some inputs from you guys please. Why will the ES not work without the choke? What can be the possible scenarios? I think getting it replaced under warranty is the safest bet, but would like to have your points as well, to make the claim full proof and a success.

Please advise.

Best regards,

Bikramjit.

P.S. : any body needs the phone number / location of Ramesh, do let me know.
