My fondest memory of actually climbing in to and sitting in a Rolls Royce was at the Yankee Candle car museum in Deerfield, MA (unfortunately they closed it down in late 2001). But when it was operating, there was a Rolls Royce on display where in one could sit inside and get a feel of it, take pics etc. Most cars were on loan to the museum and amongst some of the noted cars was the VW Beetle that belonged to Jerry Seinfeld and had only about 67 miles or something clocked on the odometer.

Too bad that digital cams were not popular at the time when I visited in the year 2000 and just barely managed to record some grainy footage on a Hi-8 handycam that ran out of battery charge after a few seconds.

But it was indeed a very pleasant experience since there was also a Ferrari on display that was accessible - one was allowed to climb in to and get a feel etc.
Too bad that other car museums do not allow such pricey cars to be "climbed into" and "felt around".

Two more twenties Rolls Royce cars from the Bahawalpur Motor Khana. The first is a photograph of a Barker Silver Ghost taken in Bahawalpur in 1924. The Viceroy, the Earl of Reading, and the Nawab of Bahawalpur are in the rear of the car. Could this be GAK 39?
The other photographs are of BWP 73, a 1927 Barker Special de luxe Limousine, body no.92-YC. engine no. EH 35 at Sadiq Garh Palace , Bahawalpur. The car was upholstered in French tapestry, and had two sets of window glass, one with a dark tint, so that the Rolls could be used as a pardah car.
There is also a picture of the car in the use of the President of Pakistan and Begum Iskandar Mirza, in Bahawalpur.

I think this is more probably 86CW. 86CW was painted Aluminium throughout, including wheel discs; with an extra large Spinney ventilator.

The first body on 82RM, I believe had a split windshield; nautical ventilators and Barker reflectors on the front wing. Colour was Cream + Polished Aluminium wheel discs.

The two pictures below are probably the same car.

What is the connection between 86CW & Bahawalpur ? It seems that Bahawalpur only bought new cars. 86CW was originally sold to Maler Kotla. I know 82RM was cream but at least it was a Bahawalpur car ;o) Someone should check the guarantee books to make sure 86CW was del'd to Maler Kotla, may be they cancelled the order and the car was shifted to Bahawalpur.

This is all I have got to go by! And this is the only place the change has been made on the Chassis Card.....And "Maharajah" of Bahawalpur is interesting too.

Many of the features in the pictures match though.

Just noticed it is the 2000th post on this Thread that has created some well intentioned jousting. Long live the thread!

That info is missing on my copy of the chassis cards. You are definitely right and we know now that Bahawalpur sometimes bought second-hand cars !

Is it not possible that the order for the car by the original buyer was cancelled BEFORE delivery, after which Bhawalpur bought it?

That would still make it a sale of a brand new car.

Not impossible indeed, 86CW was off-test on 13 Mar 1920, but it was only shipped on 09 Jun 1921. Bahawalpur apparently bought it on 03 Nov 1922 therefore I suspect the car was used in between, may be as a R-R Ltd Bombay demonstrator.

Just a few numbers apart... but its fate unknown. This discussion on 86CW, reminds me of 61CW my ancestral R-R, which originally belonged to the Nawab of Jaora.

Default My Maharajah Upgrade to 3BU134 & Villa d'Este

I have had a new Lalique Elephant and two Lalique Panthers adapted to my car. I also have acquired Lalique antique mascots, Victorie, Eagles and Cock head, Proud Cock, Falcon, and 5 Horses. I have also 2 of the new Toby the Elephants.

I was at Villa d'Este, but not in it. Here are two pictures of the new mascots.

I was interviewed by the Discovery Channel and photographed and videoed by the local press and some international press

This trip started from Vienna and we have driven through the Austrian and Swiss Alps to Villa and now on my way to Kitzbuhl, Rockingham, and Velden am Wortersee.

Here is a video of the elephant in front of Lake Como, from Como S Giovanni

Will post many more pictures later of the whole trip

Tweety whilst flying around saw a 20hp being readied for the next Cartier show, the proud new owner is Bombay based and demands perfection in restoration.

Ace Bombay restorer has been given the task of creating yet another prize winner.

Will be nice to see another beauty on the roads of Bombay soon

Another Maharaja R-R goes on sale this summer (the other one is the ex-Bhopal PIII, 3BU86 - post # 1991) .

This time it is the ex-Nandgaon PII , Chassis 50XJ.

In my opinion, one of the prettiest of the Indian Phantom II's. Notice it retains its Indian licence plate.

Would be nice if "The Doc" gets this one too !
