| Team-BHP Support   | Re: 2013 Team-BHP Bangalore Overnight Meet Monsoon Drive Flag-off report: I was there as a pesudo attendee as promised, at 6.45AM today to flag off the convoy at NH-209 NICE expressway exit  . I couldn't come all the way to Chamarajanagar as per my original plan, since some unexpected errands cropped up back home. I however did join the convoy for the first 50 km of the journey. I had hot Masala Dosas at Vasu hotel, Kanakapura town and got back home by 9 AM. It was nice to meet some new faces and as usual, Sudarsanan sir was bursting with energy and spearheading all the arrangements and itinerary plans *hats off to your efforts*. The BMW 320D (Sudarsanan sir) was at the head of the convoy and everyone seemed to hold/maintain their positions in the array, which was very nice to see. I was in the T-Jet, and was perhaps the only fellow changing positions in the convoy to try and get some IronH4wk style snaps of all the attendees' cars. Diesel_convert joined in late and made his entry into the convoy in an incognito-style. Towards Kanakapura, I started slowly drifting away from the front of the convoy to the back and then finally broke off  . Captain of the pack: RSudarsanan and his BMW 320D  The drive begins with me leading to get a convoy shot in the ORVM and IRVM - these are what I managed to get: The convoy led by RSudarsanan sir   Dr. AD's beast - black SX4  Tyre guru Nikhilb2008 gets set to unleash VTEC power and overtake 'obstacles': going..  going..  Gone!  Hot hatch Getz CRDi of krish3  fulcrum.xyz's gleaming Swift  Akshay_S's Fiesta was tailing the convoy for a while  Was this car a part of our group?? If not, this is going on the stickers' thread *lol*  RS sir's Beemer leading the pack on NH-209  Nikhil's Civic joins RS sir at the head of the pack   fulcrum.xyz joins at no. 3  krish3 holds position no. 4   Dr. AD at position no. 5 in the convoy   Followed by Akshay_S at no. 6  Latecomer Diesel_convert makes a sudden appearance overtaking the entire convoy with that 1.6 TDI power! So much for being a sweeper *lol*.  The final car no. 7 was KiloAlpha's Figo who was bringing up the rear and making sure no one lost their way!  KiloAlpha's Figo in action! Especially RSUDARSANAN  I am looking forward to seeing more pics and the update on the road conditions in the route you guys followed. I intend driving to Ooty from Kochi on 20 July. Seeing some teasers in this thread about the scenic drive and good road conditions, I intend following the same route. Bring on the pics please. I am tired of waiting  |

In two days of driving we did it all - spirited highway driving and testing the high speed cornering abilities of the car (in which the best and the worst of the lot are obvious, by the way!), plenty of twists and turns (some hundred odd hair-pin bends in a day!), generally smooth tarmac driving, to add to the fun some broken roads and a few terrible patches, and while returning driving on some absolute dirt tracks and just non-existent roads. Two things were constant throughout the drive - great scenery and fantastic weather! Could not have asked for more. Thanks a ton to RSUDARSANAN for organizing this trip. Fantastic planning and equally great execution of the plan! Thanks a lot KarthikK for covering the "meet and greet" in such great photographic details! Really nice photos! Thanks a lot to everybody for such fun times and the great company! Unfortunately, I could take only a few photos. Most of the time, I was trying to concentrate hard on taking the next corner at a reasonable speed and without getting thrown out of the road (now you know which car I meant was the worst of the lot for cornering ability) and trying to keep up with the leaders who were keeping their engines "on the boil" and pushing the car through the corners in a very impressive manner. :-) Hardly any time for photographs! Anyways, here are a few pictures that I could manage. 1. Our rides lined up for "meet and greet" at 7:00 AM  2. The "meet and greet" session  3. A "regroup point" along the way  4. Casual conversations while we wait for all cars to arrive at the regroup  5. "The dream and the reality" :-) My real car parked behind RSUDARSANAN's 320D, which is one of my dream cars! Funnily enough, the locals hanging out there were much more interested in my humble Maruti than the BMW standing just a few feet ahead. What can we say? Not all know the meaning of the "ultimate driving machine", I guess.  6. A quick pit-stop at "Chamraj Tea Center"  7. I and fulcrum.xyz had to return early, so we said goodbye to the gang early and drove back via Bandipur. Drive through Bandipur was superb, and the monsoon weather just added to the beauty of the jungle. | Re: 2013 Team-BHP Bangalore Overnight Meet Let me reply on nikhil's behalf as I was following most of the time, it was amazing to see a civic that flat through triple digit speed corners, In terms of handling the top three in the group was the BMW, Civic then Figo. power / acceleration was probably BMW, rapid, civic. Not too sure about the getz crdi but it was really tailing the beemer well. Though Rsudarsanan cheated having an automatic . In the rapid I had to go through 4 gears to hit 100 quickly (1 through 4).Pics to follow after formatting, anyone have a nice automated script in windows that will do the job ? |
