The Jonga is essentially a Nissan Patrol P60.

As it was manufactured for the Indian Armed Forces at Jabalpur ordinance factory, it derived its "Jonga" name which basically is short for Jabalpur Ordinance and Gun-carriage Assembly.

Right! Also just scrolled up to see your earlier post. This is definitely the Jonga I recall. They all seem to have vanished though despite this being a major military place.

I have a jonga Nissan Patrol Can Anyone with machanical knowledge help!

I had this beast earlier in 2013 with all original parts but as i was not interested in orignal engine because of the mileage it could give; so i changed everything with Mahindra bolero engine, gearbox, differential even removed 4x4 parts and made it 4x2. Everything went okey but few things like jonga has very heavy chassis and body so pickup was not up to the mark. It simply struggled to get me desired pickup. Secondly it had small tyre size as compared to jonga. Thats all past now i have another jonga with most original parts in it except the engine and gearbox (Tata 407). Like 4x4 differentials etc. I have 3+1 original jonga gearbox in spare and i am planning to replace only gearbox with the original jonga 3+1 gearbox. I could bear Tata407 engine and gear but problem is engine has immense power but the tata 407 gearbox is not converting the power to the wheels or differentials as jonga is struggling to it fullest to overtake any vehicle on Highway on high speed, high here means 70 km/hr. So i ask help from people who have proper mechanical knowledge of engine and gearbox that why engine power is not getting converted to the differentials? Will jonga gearbox with tata 407 engine work? One friend of mine told me that rpm is not matching up with old jonga differentials because the engine runs on same speed and its the gearbox which controls the speed and rpm of engine and then supply it to the differentials. Tata 407 gearbox rpm is not matching up with jonga differentials thatswhy the pickup is not as desired. Is it true? What should I do? I want to keep the differentials. should i change Only gearbox or engine and gearbox both?

Re: Nissan Jonga! Can I have some details about this monster truck?

I saw this car today at a workshop in Wadala Truck Terminus, Mumbai. This isn't owned by Surya Kumar Yadav anymore. The car is Mahindra Thar and body work done in Punjab.

It looks like an absolute beast, but given the huge metal body and leaf springs for suspension, this must be a terrible car to drive.

And the recent Jongas (or Mahindra Thar) all posted here look the same. Highly likely that they are all done at the same workshop in Punjab.
