Splendid choice of machine Arka. I have travelled extensively in these machines as a kid. Sometimes used as a school bus, other times as a picnic vehicle. Brutal power!

What a come alive description HG. Lovely recall and a small step in growing up.

Anticipating a blow by blow story of restoration work.

Congrats on a very interesting purchase Arka. Knowing you, it won't be just a visual restoration. I am sure you will turn it into a mean functional off-roader.

And guys I was thinking instead of the Dicor, this vehicle could be the perfect mobile bar!! Imagine 8-10 people sitting in the rear section with a small table laid out between the benches & Nitrous driving us around Chennai! What fun!!
A glass of Sherry and a bowl of peanuts on a candlelit front fender at sunset served by a barefooted Parsi woman dressed in an elegant sari.....no, nevermind.... I would probably just get Sam Kapasi in shorts serving a warm beer....

The steering on the Dodge version of this was never good nor the suspension. And, I mean to the point of being a real nuisance to drive. I hope the clever ones at Nissan redesigned that. I say this only to give you a possible alert on this vehicle. Otherwise it is a work of art, a real beauty IMHO.

I am wondering where you will get the glass and other spares? Please keep us well informed of your progress. I think this one is going to be special.

All the best Arka...that's a great buy.
I can see how passionate you're about off-roading. Waiting to see you move mountains with the 1 ton.

You could make the ultimate go anywhere motorhome using this truck, with solar panels and diesel fired stoves etc. Congrats, you just might start a new cult of truck 4x4 enthusiasts !!

First of all , congrats Arka!!!
Next time , when u people assemble near tidel park, en route to Kelambakkam , I definitely hope to see this too .
Am seeing one for the first time and from your gallery it is given as 1995 Nissan 4W73 by VFJ , this vehicle is just 13 years old??(Consider me a newbie to all these ).It is a military disposal right?
It was destined for the right hands.Good Luck for restoration work!!

I have registered the 4W73 as a Diesel Vehicle, so that I can fit a diesel engine.

Plans

1)Tinkering/Denting & Painting
2) Convert it to Soft Top, very simple just remove 14Bolts and the hard top comes off
3) Fit in a Diesel Engine Hino W04D (110Bhp & 28Kgm)
4) Paint job
5) Fit a Air-Conditioner as this is going to be my daily drive
6) New Canvas Top
7) New Tyres
