Re: Nissan 4W73 aka 1 ton

Hi Arka,

I saw this thread by luck and you broght back the nostalgic memories which go back to 25 years. Even then we had very few 1tons and they were getting replaced by TATA 403. What ever was left were getting modified as "Commanding officers" caravan or used as school bus. I have driven this beast and is a superb vehucle and very comfortable - the same reason for being choice for caravans, school buses and ambulance! The engine is smooth and powerful. 1 ton also had another role - recovery vehicle. It was being used for pulling vehicles stuck in sand or slush. My all time favoutie fauji vehicle is Jonga. It was the mean machine

Note the difference between Arka's cab roof, the American Army version and this chopped version which I suspect makes the vehicle undriveable for anybody over 5 feet tall.

@DirtyDan - On a lighter note of fact, the average height of US men is 5+ feet. I believe this problem will be taken care of with the design part. But the only exception 'if the 1 tonner belongs to some noodles man from mangolia, a Green card holder, of course!

I happened to be a member of Reno4x4, another 4x4 enthusiasts forum. I borowed this image from one of the members Rig gallery.

Tpc2011

Hi Guys,

The Nissan 4W73 was driven by UBS on Day#2 of TPC2011, and the PTO winch was put to good use at SS2.

While driving out of riverbed at the end of Day#2 the 1 Ton got stuck in a sand pit, and we realized the the winch cable and Guides were jumbled, a few of us stripped and rewound the cable and the 1Ton Winched herself out.

Many thanks to UBS for the new carb and Mhd Ali for changing the same on the eve of TPC2011.

Regards,

Arka

Arka,
Maybe you could share details of the carb setup, jet details and the way the engine behaves with the new setup?

Thanx
