reading this thread i can almost smell that the tarpaulin gives after sun and water beating on it , with the heat from the floor and the small windscreen and the bonnet kicking out, hell what a time we have had in this ..one tonne, there were names given to some special duty one tonnes, like dolma i remember was one fancy one tonne with curtains and plush seats with chrome all over hahahaha,

all said and done it went everywhere , remember dune bashing and also one hell of a time in assam in monsoons, "one tonne hai saab no problem , har jageh jaayega"

Got the 1Ton to the Garage

Hi Guys,

I decided to start the Nissan 1Ton rebuild by this week. So I decided to drive the truck back on Sunday morning.

However when we reached the Beach House we realised that the keys were not with the caretaker.

So we started the 1Ton and drove it back to the Garage, at 2AM Sunday morning.

It took 30 Mins to connect the battery, prime the fuel system and clean the spark plugs.

We drove the 28Kms in 45mins with all present taking turns behind the wheel.

Hi
Arka all the best for the restoration project, we all know it will be an eye catcher in the forum. one small doubt do you need a special license of a LCV to drive this vehicle legally on roads.

Only a few States allow Ex-Military Vehicles to get registered.

The dealer I bought it from got a LMV registration done for it, based on the military auction sale invoice.

It cannot be done in every state. If the vehicle is transferred to any other state it will be re-registered as LCV.

Regards,

Arka

even if its a white board, I dont think this comes under LMV. this is clearly a HMV.

Not that Arka would not be able to handle our Chennai Maamas. He will give them so much specs of the vehicle and sell the idea that this is a LMV.

Maybe show them the comparative (photoshoped) pics with the safari -
Dear Iron wolf, It can be driven with LMV licence as far as mumbai is concerened. In 1978 I got a loan from a bank for educated unemployed scheme and I applied for a Matador F307 and along with other documents neede for loan sancsioneed I gave my car driving licence LMV for the same now after that I drove Matador for 4 months before I got the driver for it and during this period I was held by police on two to three ocations.
