Re: An impulsive buy- 1999 Mahindra Classic; Now Sold. Another project now in the off

Engine - XD3P? Or the DCM 3L engine that Allan used in past?
GB/Tcase - KMT90-T19?
Axles - from FC or pickup 58-53 combo?
Diff - 4.88? 5.38?
SPOA? looks like yes
Rear FFRA? Looks like yes?
AC?
Pwr String - yes
Twin shock setup either front or back?
Tank capacity and location?
Traction bar?
Winch, snorkel?
Good you avoided longer shackles thanks to SPOA.

Re: An impulsive buy- 1999 Mahindra Classic; Now Sold. Another project now in the off

Is there a way to convert all locks to open with one key like in modern cars?

My new jeep will have a key for the ignition, then for glove box, center console, rear storage compartment, underseat box. Any ideas if it can be done?

Hey Tejas,

Amazing thread!

I guess you can retrofit it from the new Thar locks if there are as many as i had the keys on my Machismo LB retrofitted from a Standard Enfield. I am in the progress of restoring an MM540 as well though not as in detail as yours and came upon this same doubt!

{P.s - The Machismo from Royal enfield had seperate key for ignition and Lock}

No - AFAIK - there is, however, a 1:3 (1 key, 3 locks) available if it helps

Re: An impulsive buy- 1999 Mahindra Classic; Now Sold. Another project now in the off

hmm no once came up with the idea of a old bolero, armada, marshal commander KeySet Idea.

Doc - check with any MASS for a OE key set for old vehicles. Example, my armada has 1 key for

Ignition
GloveBox
2 doors
Rear Door
Fuel Cap door

I think with a good tinker in Allans shop you can retro fit a few locks here and there. Hope this idea helps...

Hey Tejas, what's the status of the build? Is is ready? Even if some work is pending can we have the thread move to main section from Assembly line.

I come to this section in the anticipation of thread being up. Please bring it on.

Soon! She will be there at the Mahindra Great Escape on 7th July 2012 and MCUBE on July 13-14th 2012. She won't be fully ready, but will come with a coat of enamel paint temporarily. After the offroading season is done, the rest of the work will continue
