Lot of things going on in my head with regards to the work to be done. Devang suggested first to get a checkup and basic servicing done at MASS.

Trying to think of what all needs to be done and should i get everything done at 1 go or in parts.

Shall make a detailed list of things required and post it. Suggestions welcome anytime.
In your Gypsy looks like sides repaired for damages and repainted, hard top is supplied grey colour and not white as in your vehicle please check for other areas for repainting .

Hi Iqbal,

No names for my Gypsy, i have taken Tejas's advice on that

and the hardtop is supplied in white colour, GSFerrari has just got a new one with a white hardtop.

Thanks for your comments.

Raj , remember i told you long time ago, its not good as a daily drive/primary vehicle and moreover i was wondering how are you pulling along without AC after selling WagonR. I knew this was coming

I use the Gypsy as a daily-drive without any issues. AC works brilliantly and I take the mickey out of it during OTR weekends as well. Never been happier - once you drop in an ac nobody will complain. Anyway - you have to do what you have to do...

Was a pretty short dream in the end wasn't it...

i had gone to Sripadh for the AC on saturday morn. He gave a quote that was a bit higher for my folks to digest and that is where the whole argument of 'wasting' money on a 2nd hand car started. Sometimes its better to walk than break my head. :(

Anyway what is done is done. Some of us expected this to happen from the beginning...you were trying to make a car out of a gypsy and it was bound to end in tears. Hopefully soon you'll be able to get a Gypsy purely for what it is

Where do you go from here?

Saw your post in Classifieds.

I dont think your family will let you buy a Gypsy again if you sell this one. So better think twice(My Advice: Please keep it, Coz you are gonna regret later). I hope your family members are not on Tbhp and reading this post.

Recently it happened to me:

Family Member: Why don’t you sell it off and buy something better.
Me: ok I will sell it off but again buy a Brand new Gypsy and later add A/C, PS, Alloys, tire.
Family Member: How much will it cost?
Me: 7 Lakh Approx
Family Member: Hah
After a min
Family Member: you please keep it and no need to buy a new one and pay EMI’s.
Me: He he he he

Dear Raj,
Sorry to hear that you would be selling off your Gypsy.
I understand the situation that you are going through with your family.
If you can retain your Gypsy, try doing so.
Here are some options. Maybe you've already thought about this, still:
  1. Try buying a used car like Alto/Spark for about a lakh+ and use it to take your family around
  2. Try getting CFLs at rear, front facing seats and an AC installed.
Do option 2 only if you are sure about retaining your Gypsy.
If neither of these options work, and selling is the only option, do so. Don't worry, am sure you can buy one later.

Cheers,
Deepak

PS: If you are planning to spend a couple of lakhs along with the money that you would get, by selling your Gypsy, you may even have a look at Thar!

My Zuk Stays!!!

Thanks Krishna, it worked.

Family wanted a car after i sold this one. I told them that we should look at a sedan now since we already had a small car before (wagonr).

My choice would be an OHC costing around 3.5L, add tyres and wheels, FFE, a superb music system, security system, new seats etc etc and those would mean adding up another 1L maybe. I also told them that i would mod it in such a way that car would reach top speeds of 200 (lol). that was the last straw. they now feel that this bumpy and a much slower ride is better than me driving at such speeds.

They gave in and asked me to get whatever i want to do but slowly which i accepted.

Thanks to all Starter, Amar, Krishna, Saintsinner, GS, Kaushik, Devang.

Infact Kaushik & Devang had called me and said 'Boss, if you sell this now, you wont be getting this again'. 'Think twice, Kuch kar'.

Thanks Guys. I had taken this decision out of sheer frustration and luckily am not going through with it.

and GS, i shall still 'try' to make this a comfortable ride.

Cheers,
Raj

Great decision mate. I am also working on making my Gypsy super-reliable and more comfortable. Buying this Gypsy had postponed my decision of upgrading from Getz to some C segment car for 2-3 years, but I don't regret that a bit. The envious glances I get when I drive it, more than make up for what I have lost :-)
