Booked a ZEST last week. Just got the Chasis number from the dealer. I am guessing it's the same as VIN.

The number is MATXXXXXXFLKXXXXX . According to the article, this translates to October 2015. Am I reading it right? Also do the other digits / letters have some significance too or they are just serial numbers?

Congrats! Yes, you are right. It's an October 2015 model.

Hi Guys,

Can someone please help me with the details for the below VIN Number.

Its only 17 digits and I have asked the SA for the full VIN, he said he can give it only tomorrow since the car is not yet arrived.

MALBM51RLFM183460

Thanks

Congrats! Ask your SA to provide the full VIN as the nineteenth character represents the month. The tenth character 'F' indicates that it's a 2015 model.

Thanks for the update Grand Drive.

SA says he doesn't have the full 19 digits, fortunately my dad was able to visit the stockyard and he saw the vehicles getting offloaded, also the ODO read 7Kms, so pretty satisfied that it should not have anything alarming

Thank you for the update.

In that case this point of VIN code change must reflect in the Main Post on Page 1.

Not sure if its part of the VIN. But there is one way to find out.
Access the spare wheel well. There is a sticker pasted there with a list of 3-4 letter codes. Each code is for a feature.
One of the codes is for the colour.

My CLA's VIN number is wdd1173456L000352.

I checked it out on this LINK and it says it was manufactured in June 2015. So, basically it is a 6month old manufactured car. My dealer says that it is not a problem as its been at the factory for this time and proper PDI would be done.

I dont know, I am a little skeptic now... is 6 months a long time?
