Yes, I was able to get it by contacting the vendor. I think they had stopped ddpai filters but had few in stock so they sent it to me via Bluedart.

Thanks & Regards,
How long did you check after turning off? These ports usually power for 5-10 mins after switch off, especially if it detects that you havent exited the car yet.

Thank you so much for the timely information. I contacted them and ordered the CPL filter. Expecting it in a few days. The filter should help reduce the glare from my windscreen.

It was recording even after 5-6 hours. It was the first day I installed the dashcam, I forgot to disconnect in the morning at around 11 and when I returned in the evening it was still recording. I checked with one of my friends who has VW Virtus and has been a long time VW guy, he confirmed that it will be connected and we need to disconnect without forgetting, however shorter durations will not drain the battery.

Please check if your dashcam settings supports shutdown feature after certain time. I have connected 70mai a810 dashcam in my car to a usb port which always have power. But I am using the shutdown feature in the camera for self powering off after 5mnts, post engine is shut. If this feature is not there in the dashcam, power the dashcam using a usb charger plugged into the cars cigarette lighter port.

Thank you, I will try the USB option. Camera cable has the ciggerate lighter connector, so will have to add one more connector I beleive. Checked quickly on the camera, it doesn't seem to have a shutdown option.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi all,

I had the below SD card installed in my dashcam.
https://amzn.in/d/g7NdtxA

I had removed it while giving for service, upon connecting again it was asking to format (format using my 70mai dash was failing)

So I connected to my laptop, but strangely it is showing capacity of only 7.6GB in the formatting pop.

I find this strange. Anyone else observe the same or what could be the reason.

Seems the file system is corrupted or some part of it. You can check in Disk Management tool to see if there is any disk partition error and re format it. Or use other tools like SD Card formatter. More often than not, it isn't required but can give a try.

Thanks tried all the possible ways of formatting (chkdsk, disk genius,sd formater) sadly none of it worked. Disk management also fails saying unable to format.

I have dropped a mail to samsung customer care, lets see how it goes.

Quick query and hopefully will expect some quick responses - Can we connect dashcams to the ICE for real time viewing?

Mostly NO. Local viewing with the phone connected to the Dashcam yes!
Following for any solutions that have worked.

When I was shopping for my dashcams, I was particularly interested in this feature because the Thar reversing camera does not stream the rear camera output except when you engage reverse. However, there are no dashcams that connect to the ICE display.
There are ones that come with a display that attaches on top of your rear view mirror and live streams the rear camera output which seems to be an acceptable workaround though I prefer my RVMs to be an actual mirror.
However, both my front and rear dashcams have a bit of lag when streaming the live view via their apps. Also, you would need to install the app on your display and connect to the camera via its wifi both of which are impossible with the stock HU.
I suppose it would be possible if the stock screen was replaced by an Android HU or just a regular Android Tab.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi All,

I am looking to purchase a dashcam for my relative's Kia Seltos. Both he and his kid have an iPhone.

I wanted to check with members in the Apple ecosystem if the usual Chinese dashcam manufacturer apps (like 70mai/ddpai/Redtiger etc) work well on iPhone too (I believe he has an iPhone 11).

Same here, I also prefer the rear view to be an actual mirror. I have replaced the stock ICE unit with the Pioneer AVH-Z5190BT head unit. Not really sure if this also supports, still exploring. If nothing works then I may have to explore any other display however it will only land up clogging the dashboard!

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

For our VW Taigun, we got the Blaupunkt BP 5050 - WiFi model. After going through this thread and VW group warranty policies, we have decided to go through the in-showroom accessory shop. Only issue is that you have to pay the MRP 13K) against the offer price on Balupunkt India online store (11K now). But for 13K , they gave a Sandisk Ultra UHS-I 32 GB card and fitting charges waived off. Planning to upgrade to a 128GB memory card soon.

Link to product:

https://blaupunktcar.in/buy/Car-Acce...5050-WIFI/408/

This comes with wiring kit and gets connected to constant fuse slot. It has parking mode time-lapse as well as collision mode recording options. The low voltage protection ,takes care of battery draining.
