Blaupunkt Ft Lauderdale 900 and make the switch. 40k for a system that lasts 2 years is a very poor experience.

You can get in touch with Mr. Suresh, the distributor for Tamil Nadu. I think he's located in Saidapet. You might be able to visit and check the performance in person. His number is +91 98404 06073.

I've had the issues from day one. So I won't say it lasted 2 years.

When I was in the market for the headunit upgrade, I tried 3-4 different Android HUs but soon realized their worth and dumped them for the Sony headunit which now has become integral part of my car.

I shared my experience in detail here and subsequent comments thereafter:

No.

These conventional headunits have licensed Android Auto and Apple Carplay which work flawlessly through out the lifetime. I never had any hiccup in all these years while using navigation, calls, notifications, music or reverse camera.

The moment you disconnect the smartphone, the headunit is just a simple music systems which can play music using the USB thumb drive or radio and screen is there for the reverse camera. If your smartphone is fast, the HU performance is snappy, if the smartphone is slow, HU will also feel sluggish, its as simple as that.

But these type of HUs have far better and puristic audio related features which support traditional connections.

But recently Pioneer jumped in the Android Headunit scene with few HUs which support 360 camera and CANBUS. The headunit design is same like a typical Chinese Android HU.

Operating system is also same Android Automobile OS. But being Pioneer, they have their own polished UI with limited features on the main screen which 'hopefully' should be better over other Chinese counterparts.

Couple of years back Pioneer also experimented with a similar headunit which comes with battery powered detachable screen and can be used as a normal Android tablet.

I used their old series in my Creta 2020. While there were some bugs, the audio output was decent. Recently, I bought a Fronx Sigma and am planning to install the Onkyo XQD1120. I enquired in the local market and was told it would cost ₹12,000, including installation and a 2-year warranty. I’m thinking of going ahead with it.

Re: The Android Head-Unit buying guide

Recently upgraded the HU for my Polo to a Sansui SAM550 which is an android unit. This was recommended by the installer, found the UI and the display pretty good as well. However I am facing a weird issue with the HU, as soon as it connects to CarPlay the mike doesn't seem to work properly and the person at the other end can't seem to hear my properly. If I connect to Bluetooth then this issue doesn't crop up, and it also works fine with Android Auto. I am so disappointed and we are still trying to solve this issue.

Re: The Android Head-Unit buying guide

Boys and girls, we have a winner!

After years of trial and error, and a lot of money wasted on 'mock' Android units with Jugaad Android Auto, duplicate CarPlay arrangements, horrible Bluetooth audio, and hackneyed telephony, I’ve finally found the perfect car audio head unit. These previous setups created pandemonium while driving, adding to the inconvenience rather than making life easier.

I recently uninstalled the last Android unit from my Nexon EV and replaced it with the Pioneer DMH AP6650BT.

This unit, though running on an Android framework, is superbly optimized and does exactly what you’d want from a car audio head unit. The interface is lucid, akin to older Pioneer units, making it familiar and easy to operate. It boasts a great display, quick connections, and supports both licensed wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other features include:

Robust connectivity.

CAN bus compatibility for steering controls and climate control displays.

FM radio and Bluetooth audio interfaces that feel familiar to older Pioneer units but are miles ahead in quality compared to Chinese Android units.

For audiophiles, the sound quality is solid, with adjustable crossover points, active crossover, and time alignment options.

The seamless experience is what makes me happiest. Every single time I enter the car, my Android and iPhone connect without any hassle. The ecosystem is robust and reliable—it just works!

I’m absolutely in love with this unit and the peace of mind it brings.

I can safely say, there is NO REASON TO BUY AN ANDROID UNIT NOW!

Looks fantastic! Please could you share pricing and if it is plug and play with common wiring harnesses or splicing was required?

Also, with regards to the CANbus part, does it support all features such as TPMS, door open warnings etc?

Yes, indeed, it does. But i haven't delved into it because aftermarket calibration of a 360 camera looks painful and is most likely erroneous.

The unit cost me a little less than 20000 rupees offline from a Pioneer dealer.
It was plug and play, and it took 15 mins to install, after removing the aftermarket android unit. Most of the time was spent routing the Pioneer microphone, which I can safely say, is as good as OEM microphones in stock systems. That's a relief! No splicing or wire cutting was required, but an Android wiring harness and Tata compatible HiWorld canbus box was already installed in my car, so we used it. Works perfectly fine
The door warnings show up, and ac display shows up.
That's all I required in my base Nexon EV, as it has climate control but no display. The only bugbear I have is that the ac temperature doesn't pop up, like how the door open indications come, while adjusting and you have to go into the ac menu to see the temperature you have set. The Pioneer team is working on Improving AC integration, they said, and they issue firmware updates regularly.

Re: The Android Head-Unit buying guide

Can someone please recommend a replacement head unit for Kia Carens prestige plus 8" head unit ? I would rather have a 10" unit similar to top model.
Please recommend a brand/model which will fit easily in the dashboard ?
