Congrats on the splendid upgrade Hydra, I am sure iDQ is now getting all the power it needs. A very good upgrade indeed.

One question how much power is the sub getting now from the S500?

The Before and After auditions in hydra's car is jaw dropping , it could be used as a reference to why a monoblock is needed in a car, the lower frequency comes in real fast and tight and unbelievably controlled ,well this is the best setup I have ever heard so I don't know anything else to compare it with.

Thank you, Manan! As KK said, it is wired at 4Ω and feeding the sub 325w RMS. And yes, it is sounding great!

Thank you, Muneem!

Oh no boss

My work keeps me busy 6 days outta 7, and for two full months I worked full Sundays. But given the first chance, I was out on the highways.

Its the same philosophy - one less movie/social function, one more weekend trip whenever/wherever I can manage.

@KK & muneem, upgrade plans are kinda hazy right now. Right now I'm happy. I'll have to start getting unhappy with something before an upgrade is planned.

A HU upgrade is definitely on the cards somewhere in the distant future. The 9887 is right now (somewhat reasonably) filling a void that is looking for the right candidate to fill. An SSLDi6 I do lust for, but then the need for one is lesser than the need for a good HU. (An SSLDi6 + another 3 pairs of RCAs is more than halfway the price of a good HU.) The sub I'm still happy with so that may not get upgraded at all.

I don't want to upgrade something just for the sake of changing the equipment. No upgrades for another 6-8 months, that is for sure.

Anup, Why did you opt for A-pillar location for tweeters?
Are they firing at each other or to the middle of dash?

@gill, sorry for the late reply I did not see this post earlier.

I found the A-Pillar location to be the best compromise, considering the following:
- The size of the tweeters (and the space needed to house them).
- The approximate height I needed them to be at.
- An FG pod on the Sail panel was not an option for me (for various non-ICE reasons). I would have preferred this location, but for the uh, "reasons". ;-)
- I wanted maximum protection for the tweeters (a door location would expose them to rain - we a lot of rain here in the south, and my Dad who drives the car occasionally does not have compunctions about exposing an open door to the rain for more longer than really necessary).

The current location of the tweeters does not compromise the sound/imaging/stage so much so that it is to be avoided altogether. The tweeters integrate very well with the midbass with the appropriate XO settings and from the driver's seat, the sound does not seem to originate from them.

Folks, though a bit late, I'm posting a few higher res pics of the ICE, taken with a proper cam (P&S) and not a Mobile Phone, as promised earlier. Please excuse the dust and dirt in the car.

Gill-saab, the first pic will give you a better idea of how the tweeters have been placed.

Very nice

What crossover point, slope and tweeter levels are you using?

Hydra you might be very happy with the tweeter location you are having but you are missing a lot. Try the fiber glass in the current location you would see a difference of day and night. Since I also used to have them in the same location but now changed. And I am loving it.

The whole installation is looking very neat. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I believe there's a wooden plate on which you have fitted the amplifiers. How has the wooden plate fixed to car's body?
