What I think is that the resolution is too high. If I'm not wrong, this error occurs if your files have a resolution of more than what is supported by the player. Try converting it to 800*480 or lesser with the help of a video converter. Hope this helps.

Re: Car Audio Advice from the Audio Gurus: Use "Search thread" before posting a new Q

I will be getting a new i20 in the coming days, and I feel that the stock speakers lack bass and clarity in general.

Currently I do not want to add an amp and a sub, since I am short on cash. I just want to replace the speakers with better ones, which have better clarity of sound, and have a little more bass. ( I am not expecting subwoofer level bass).

Can you suggest a few speaker models which will satisfy my requirement? Also, the current speakers reside on the door panels. Is it possible to get an aftermarket speaker set which can also be fitted on the door panels? Or do I have to use the parcel tray at the back for this purpose?

Oh just to make things more clear, I am not going to change the headunit. Just the speakers. And the car comes with tweeters as well. Do I need to change them too ?

Most manufacturers sell speakers that will fit the stock locations (door panels) in your car. The only real advatage of installing speakers in the rear desk is that one can install 6x9 instead of 5-6" speakers usually found in door panels. A 6x9 can reproduce more bass than an equivalent 5-6" speaker.

If the OEM speaker comes with a tweeter is is recommended that you get component speakers to replace the OEM speakers. Component speakers have a seperate woofer and tweeter and will replace both the woofer (usually in the door panel) and the tweeter.

And normally what do people do? they get the 5-6" speakers which fit the door panels for the front and they get the 6x9 speakers for the rear?

I'm not sure if you misunderstood about the tweeter part. Or rather I couldn't understand. The speaker itself doesn't have the tweeter. The tweeter is separately fitted on the top of the door, and the normal OEM speaker is at the bottom of the door. So these actual tweeters, do I change them ?

also, considering the car is an i20, do i really need a subwoofer? Or are speaker upgrades enough? I don't need a lot of punchy bass, but shouldn't be flat either. I listen to a lot of Soft rock, power ballads, r&b etc. Bot not much of heavy metal.

* RCA outputs are not associated with "power rating" - they just give a (low-power) signal of 2V or 4V p-p

* You can connect external amps even if the OE HU does not have Preamp (RCA) outputs. One just has to use a Line Output (or Hi to Lo) converter - costs about 2-4K, connects to the Speaker Output lines, and gives RCA outputs

* The dealer might tell you that you cannot change the OE speakers or add amps outside - just ignore him

* Once the OE HU is taken out for connecting to amps, first check the diagram on top of the unit. Sometimes, Preamp Output is available at the rear connectors, but will need an adapter to bring out RCA output. In that case you will need that adapter, and not the Lint Output Converter

* Any particular reason why you want 2 subwoofers?

* If you are changing the OE components, yes, you have to change both the mid-bass and the tweeters. Components = set of mid-bass and tweeters

* The quantity of low frequencies produced are the least in 5-6" round speakers in doors. 6x9s, mounted on parcel shelf, give some amount of low frequencies, but don't really go low like sub-woofers. Car size does not govern whether one uses a sub or not. It is a matter of individual choice whether one wants to hear the whole gamut or a limited set of frequencies. Low bass is an integral part of most music, and not limited to heavy metal. Soft rock, power ballads, r&b etc. also have a substantial amount of bass. Try listening to the songs that you hear through a pair of good over-the-ear headphones, and you will discover what you are missing

* Whether you put 6x9s or a sub depends on your budget. The 6x9s will cost you about 5K (incl. the plank that replaces the OE parcel shelf), and so does a common sub. A sub definitely needs an amp (~6K at least for a 4 channel Kenwood / JBL / Pioneer + cost of wires and cables; same amp drives front components); 6x9s one can get away by driving from the HU

Thanks for such a good Info, will post a threat when i took car,for a detailed information, the reason for 2 subwoofers is showoff (like kicker's sub) but also comfortable with one 600-800 rms single sub.

some questions:
1.which brand HU comes with Ford fiesta? and as its sporty dash, can i able to install any single din or double din (intersted for pioneer new p80rs), im confused here !

Those who want some semblance of bass but do not have room for a subwoofer get 6x9s (DA has explained the cost) the rest learn to live with the limited bass of a 5" or 6" door speaker.

Subwoofers provide bass that is integral to almost all music expect maybe baroque, choral, violin concertos etc..

HUs come in 2 common sizes. The width and depth is about the same (about 7" wide and about 6.5" deep). The height is either 2" (1 DIN) or 4" (2 DIN) but there are some odd shaped OEM HUs as well as some 1.5 DIN HUs.

If replacing a odd shaped OEM HU you will need a fresh panel. These are available in the open market. See the links below for units used for the Toyota Prius and Hyundai Accent.

Your installer can help you source one for your car.

Polk and Infinity have very different sound signatures. Listen to both before you buy.

GT5 is good. At least to my ears, it sounds good. Personally, I feel Infinity is better than GT5.

JBL & Pioneer have better HUs than alpine, having said this alpine is pretty good but not as good as JBL.
