Well, they havent mentioned that specifically in the minutes, if you read the complete script.

Quote:
Tata’s investment plans and products:
Tata Motors will roll out a 2.2L Safari SUV and a refurbished Sumo this quarter(Q2).

Tata Motors has drawn up a capital spending programme of Rs 12,000 crore over the next three years. To part-finance the expansion, it has already raised $490 million through foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs).

The new models to be launched by the company will be inclusive of; the one lakh car, the new generation Indica and Indigo, cross-over models that the company had launched at the Geneva Auto show, new pick-up trucks to be developed in Thailand and a new range of trucks. Tata has decided to invest USD 38 million to launch its first production base in Thailand(world’s largest light pick-up market).

Tata Motors is also planning to erect an assembly plant for its vehicles in South Africa. Currently Tata Motors is bidding to buy luxury British car brands Jaguar and Land Rover from US car maker Ford.
Perhaps your source of information is different than the Q1 results script.

Any date that comes to your mind from today till end of Sep 07, if its still not launched then it could be any date coming to your mind in the present/coming years

This is becoming like the biggest mystery of all times

Tata Motors spokesperson refused to elaborate on Tata TL pick-ups, but said that this global truck is being customised to meet the stringent Indian driving conditions.

“We cannot disclose the launch and product details, but the vehicle is being tailored for the Indian market,” the spokesperson said. Besides the truck, a new passenger variant of the ageing Sumo utility vehicles is also expected to be developed on the same TL platform.
If its still under customization (assuming that this news release was a few days back), I doubt that the TL will hit the assembly line this year. There will be months (if not more) before the Sun can shine on the TL.

Zzzzzz

That is a press release speak. Not to be trusted. Simple logic, a product designed in India will in anyway take indian considerations in mind right from word go. You dont just design something for somewhere else and then customize it to work elsewhere. All of it is done at design stage itself.

In India this truck will take a lot of abuse, it was launch else where in jan I believe.. here this will have to cope with overloading [fact of life in India] even if it's used by rich farmers..the dust so air filters, fuel is still a problem in India [not in major cities] , have to test tyres for these conditions... trucks sold abroad run on different tyres [ major factor].
And over all this Tata can not afford to give a vehicle with reliability problems which it has with most of the initial launches.... As M&M is already in this segment....and it has eaten up the safari market..

I think even the 207 is now getting a TL-like cab. The bed remains the same, and so do the spindly cross-plys. I see it everyday in the morning undergoing testing.

I think, they may put in the 3 liter engine in the work horse, and the 2.2 liter in the lifestyle vehicle, cause they are buiding the 3 l truck for Malaysian market any way ,why not use it here. and they may stop the 2l turbo versions completely also the 0ld 3l di engine will not comply to the emission norm of the future so the DICOR has to be used.......
but when will this come out???????????????? the show top speed suggested that this will be launched in Jan 08, with 100bhp 2.2L enigne, i am not sure about the news though...getaway will eat the market by then, it comes with teflon coating for the load bay [scratch proof] so M&M is quit ahead of the pack in this field....

Thats good news, so all those awaiting better move on to existing TL or other options, they are taking eternity to launch it, as if its a work of art.
