well
1)Penguin is smaller than ACE, i have seen Penguin in covers. this one is almost same size of ace.
2)and ACE tail lamps are little bit different that this one.

3) the space for Logo at front is Round. so Tata logo cant fit there.

The body is built by shillibear(thrissur) and its a leyland (ordinary limited stop fast passenger)

the features are

2 ac vents for a 3 seat row (ac will be on full time)

2 Big LCD sreens

semisleeper seats

It has rear air suspension

blue led illumination , with ultra viloet lights

front and back automatic doors (in kerala automatic door for a local bus is a big thing)

the travel comfort is more than in a volvo

pin drop silence inside the bus , well insulated body

Here comes the most attractive thing , the charge is the same as in an ordinary limited stop bus , 3 rupee 50 paise (minimum)

What exactly you mean by local intercity bus? A private bus that goes thru various bus stands? Who runs it? Is it a new route or just a replacement for an existing private bus route?

I don't know what makes you say its unviable - that too even without knowing much about the operator.

The operator runs a 12M Leyland bus, and has a 2x3 seating pattern - this could easily fit in atleast 60~62 passengers seating alone. In addition to this, he is free to take standing passengers as well. Karnataka SRTC operates a similar service (without the standing of course) and they charge fares higher than an Express, but lower than a Rajahamsa.

AFAIK, the operator charges a minimum fare of 5, not 3.50. Will try to get more details. Have often seen this bus parked at the fuel station near Kodungallur Telephone Exchange.

Jnnurm KeSRTC Volvo LE

Here are the first pictures of Jnnurm KeSRTC Volvo LE buses.
A total of 80 buses and these are expected to be in cochin by August2009.

Also media reports suggest that 240numbers of Ashok Leyland Semi LF buses under Jnnurm for Cochin & Tvm are being built by VEERA Vahana, bangalore.

KeSRTC has re-tendered for 30 nos. of fully built Mini buses under the same scheme.

The Volvos would be split up between Trivandrum and Ernakulam (TVM gets 30 and EKM 50). Similarly, there would be 120 numbers of Semi-LF buses each with EKM and TVM.

All the 30 Mini Buses are for EKM.

Please re-load the images - they don't seem to appear.

Yikes! Looks like a rip-off of the current BMTC Kendra Saarige livery. I was expecting a White on Blue scheme (similar to the KeSRTC's Ananthapuri/Venad/Malabar scheme).

Have attached an image of BMTC's Kendra Sarige and a KeSRTC Ananthapuri Fast bus.
