Eicher Reloaded

After the merger with VOLVO, it seems Eicher has reloaded itself. The new form VE Commercial Vehicles has well planned strategy.
Here are some new models; (Picture - courtesy Eicher)

1. New model "Skyline" schoolbus. (may be to compete with Tata Marcopolo buses, not the DTC one!)
2. 8x2 chassis - Hercules 35.31 with Cummins engine
3. First tractor model "Mega4040" with Cummins 180HP engine (same as AMW & Tata 4018).
4. Also a new model "Starline"
5. A fully built multiaxle truck with new front face/grill.

Along with these new series of LCV truck with modified front face, powersteering etc named "E2Plus" has been launched.
But not much has been heard about the share of Eicher in Jnnurm tenders for buses.

Whats intriguing and a bit ridiculous is that these low floor B7RLE citybuses are also on trial run by WBSTC on intercity routes like Durgapur and Asansol!

Calcutta-Durgapur, Calcutta-Asansol, are already served by the Royal Cruisers and other operators, under permit from WBSTC, by the B7R's. See a lot many of them recently on any Durgapur expressway run.

But then Durgapur-Asansol can easily be served by the B7RLE. However thinking about it, Kolkata to Asansol being such a short distance (<200km) , with most of it on even surface, even running the B7RLE shouldn't be a technical problem.

FYI, BEST does not own Marcopolos. There was one Marcopolo with BEST for trials, which according to reliable sources has been returned to TATA (or their local dealer). It is perhaps this bus that you spotted with an AI logo.

Yep! There are four operators currently running Volvos in WB.Royal Cruiser,Jai Dada,Prithivi Travels and Raha.I think I even caught a glimpse of a Royal Cruiser B9R!!(though not sure.It was dark).
But B7RLE buses won't be as comfortable over a 3/4 hr journey as compared to the B7R.And they are charging 220 bucks for the B7RLE whereas the B7R fare is 260.Almost a fair deal.
Kolkata-Asansol is 220kms(approx)

Has anybody got a chance to get into the new BMTC buses from AL? They are painted sky blue all round. The front looks similar to the Suvarna's or Suvarna Pushpak's, with multiple round tail lamps, but have larger window panes than these Suvarna's.

Somehow, the chassis looks lower than the semi-low floor ones, or maybe it's just a feel thing.

HINO Launched

Hino is supposed to have soft launched in India but looks like there is no media blitz.

Right now products are coming in CBU from Thailand and will be from their 500 series. These below is all I could find.

HINO 500 Series | Trucks | Products | HINO GLOBAL

Quote:
Bangalore: Hino Motor Sales India Ltd, a Toyota group company, has entered the MAV truck market in India and is launching its first dealership at Bangalore with Cauvery Motors. Cauvery Motors is part of the Advaith Group, one of the largest automobile dealers in South India.
Hino has chosen Cauvery Motors as its dealer in Karnataka, owing to its immense goodwill in the automobile industry. All Cauvery dealerships maintain a high standard of excellence in sales and services by sending its personnel for training on a regular basis, to update them with the latest technological advances in the automotive sphere. The workforce at Cauvery Motors is committed to excellence in serving all esteemed customers.
M P Shyam, a director with Cauvery Motors, said, "The sales team is made up of dedicated sales executives who are professionally trained. They are adept at guiding the customer through the entire sales process, right from assisting the customer to choosing the right type of vehicle for their specific needs and requirements. We also lend a helping hand in providing attractive finance options."
S V S S Gupta, another director with Cauvery Motors, said, "The driving force for the service team is the passion to analyse and provide world-class solutions in order to satisfy even the most demanding customers."
Cauvery Motors is now all set to showcase Hino India's first range of trucks“ the FM8J and the FL8J. These trucks can be used in the construction, mining, transportation and logistics industry. These trucks are a part of the Hino 500 series.

I too saw these busses, they are better built and nice color, but the height seemed to me similar to the regular ones.
