Not sure, this is near Munnar though. These are shots from an OTR event.

There are atleast 4-5 places in Idukki where you get a smiliar view. Ramakkalmedu is a known spot and its about 70KM away from Munnar on Nedumkandam route. Now its famous for the Wind mill projects.

This place is accessible only by Jeeps, via private estate routes.

Hi All,
Here is DSLR Journey begins. This is going to be the first post in this Thread, These are the some initial shots from the new D90 with 50mm 1.8 lens. Being a newbie all critics are most welcome. All images are processed in PS Cs3 (1st one shot in RAW and others in Jpeg standard)

Welcome speed gladiator, amazing sharpness and colors ! Wishing you a colorful shooting ahead !! I am sure you are enjoying the 1.8 prime, its tough to like other lenses once you get used to this.

My experiments with composite image ! (far from perfection, need to work on that)

@nimbleguru, your previous photos, page715, i think, did you try to get a 'lomo' effect there? Can you share the workflow?

Shaju, clevermax, torqueguru, your photos are great guys, I see people coming and leaving, but you guys have been so consistent about posting only the quality shots here. Credit for raising the stakes surely goes to all of you!! Can't wait to start my SLR journey! 4th Nov seems soo damn far now! :(

How do you guys take the pics of dragon flies so easily?

@clevermax, thats an average shot by your standards sir! Nice colors though!

We often end up with shots like these at sunrise/sunset. What can be done to improve here? Make the photograph much more interesting?

Please don't take it personally clever, just trying to learn here.

And well, I am eyeing th D3100. Has all the features I might need intially and some more. Perfect bang for bung. :D

Sorry, I disagree. It is an excellent composition. It is not just about sunset. It is only a background for the people on the beach. Yes, they are there, look for them.

BTW, I am posting a scanned photo which I took in 1992 using a fully manual Minolta 202, that means MF & manual exposure mode only.

It was at Pearl Valley near Bangalore. Why is it called Pearl Valley, may be this is why.:)

One more from the old days, 1993 I think.

@clevermax
Brilliant shot. Marvelous!One of your best.

@Samurai
The angle and unusualness on the second shot is quite nice, I just wish you didnt have the building there though.

Thanks, I had asked my room mate to include those bushes, but he couldn't avoid the building. Besides, I was in a hurry as I was getting really cold, notice I am not wearing anything warm.:D

Let me try some cropping. Damn, I had so much hair then.
