Amazon sale next week. Check out 2K monitors with 120hz refresh rates.
Are the Acer xv272u ,and similarly priced 120hz monitor's good ? I'm seeing reviews on Amazon where most people have complained about backlight bleeding in less than 1 year or some spots or dead pixels on the screen. Even a friend of mine faced the same issue, thankfully it was under warranty and it took almost a month for Acer to replace it. I'm looking for something that's reliable as my 15 year old LG which is only 900p and still works like a champ

Has anyone found any deals on amazon ? I'm looking for the dual monitor ARM, and the price seems to be bumped up to ~3K, no deals as of now

I'm also looking for deals on monitor arms and I heard it's better to buy 2 single monitor arms rather than a dual monitor one since dual monitor arms may have balancing issues. Any suggestions on this?

I'm also researching upon this, but I'm not a person who will keep changing monitor positions, for side by side setup I think the dual monitor ARM should be reasonable unless you want to frequently tilt or change adjustments. The single ARM costs a whooping ~2K, upon buying 2 single ARM, it will be costing around 4K. I do not have that kind of budget

Re: Computer monitor recommendations?

Came across this Acer 31.5" WQHD (2560x1440) IPS panel for Rs. 16,500.... seems like a good deal, and WQHD is a good resolution compromise for that size (PPI actually works out to just a little higher than a FHD 24").

Re: Computer monitor recommendations?

What is the general opinion on the 34 inch curved monitors for home usage?
My home monitor needs a replacement and while casually browsing through Amazon, came across these 34 inch monitors
https://www.amazon.in/LG-UltraGearTM...-2641026?psc=1
https://www.amazon.in/MSI-MP341CQW-3...-2641026?psc=1

Can someone explain the relative advantages or disadvantages of these monitors for general usage (no gaming). Also recommendations on models to look for would be useful.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Computer monitor recommendations?

Guys,

Is it time to update my monitor? This is the one I'd bought in 2018 and am currently using. My laptop is docked during the day & the monitor is connected to my closed-lid laptop.

1. Would a new 2024 model offer better clarity & resolution? I feel my eyes getting strained in the 2nd half of the working day, so open to any monitors that are easier on the eyes.

2. Also, would hooking up the monitor to my Macbook Air M3 (versus 2018 model Dell Latitude 7490) provide any benefits?

Thanks in advance!

This might have to do with the posture, distance from monitor, and ambient light in the room.

The room should be well-lit, not too bright, so that about 20% brightness/ contrast levels can be set and still the display is usable. This is a good calibration image: https://www.photofriday.com/info/calibrate.

Distance to monitor should be about 2 ft. If the 24" monitor is too small at that distance, consider a 32" monitor, but then go for at least 1440p.

The last thing that can help is a higher refresh rate. 75 Hz or 120 Hz will offer much better experience. Also, go for a monitor with 1 ms motion blur reduction or similar feature.

But the key is proper distance and ambient lighting.

Yes certainly. I for one am somebody who cannot work on a laptop screen, so I always connect it to a monitor. The screen estate is much better. Use a keyboard and mouse too, because the laptop keyboard while using a monitor may not be comfortable.

The M3 should be able to support 1440p or 4k 120 Hz easily. WIth older Intel silicon, it was a problem even with a MacBook Pro, but the Apple silicon models are much better.

You should consider buying a new iMac 24 The display of Apple is very hard to match, especially for eyes. It’s hard to explain by specs, but the difference is huge. Keep the laptop for travel.

If you want to keep your laptops (Windows and Mac) and want to hook to a monitor, you can consider Apple Display. I have one at home, and it's superior to the iMac, though on normal work, it’s hard to notice the difference. Samsung manufactures these for Apple, but I am not sure if the same model is sold in India.

I have the same monitor, at 100% zoom level, the fonts and icons are way too small. I have set the screen zoom level to 125 (system -> display -> scale) It will take a day or two to adjust to larger scale but will become normal afterward.
Since the monitor only supports max 1080p, switching to a laptop with higher resolution won't make any difference.
