Steps can be tracked through pedometer++ and this can be displayed on your watch face easily. Some watch faces will support and some wont

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

Updated my apple watch SE 2 to watchOS 10.0.1 and the battery health has fallen to 98% with just 39 cycles!

This watch was picked on 16th July 2023 and little surprised why the battery health is fallen so quickly. On other note the iPhone 14 battery too has fallen to 98% but then it is with 105 cycles!

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

I got my Ultra 2 a couple of days. Love the fact that I do not have to carry the Phone all the time. Watch is seamless for calls.

My primary use is for tracking the calorie burn. But I have doubt if Apple watch is gving Higher calorie count than really burned.

My daily routine involves Badminton (Doubles) for 1 hour and Swim for 2kms in pool.

Apple watch shows the following
1) Badminton - 1 Hour - 580 K Cal burned
2) Swim - 2km - 840 K Cal burned

Rest are misc walking around

I was super happy to see those numbers. But I knew apple was exaggerating them. Do others here face any similar issue.

My realistic estimate is these should be around 300 K Cal and 600 K Cal

Although GARMIN watches are the best way to track accurate Calories burned, they no where come near Apple Watches in looks.

As for the fitness tracking aspect, I would suggest that you do not worry much. What I do is I track my diet and the total Daily Activity. Depending on your goals; loosing weight or gaining muscle/weight you can hit and trial. This takes around a week but really helps in the long run.

Also, give yourself a treat and enjoy if it is showing higher K Cal numbers.

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

Has anyone recently bought an Apple Watch from the USA or Dubai? Is there any significant price difference v/s buying in Mumbai? There are some good deals in all the online sales going on currently, like Amazon and Reliance Digital.

Thinking of buying a Series 8, as the prices seem to have dropped after the launch of Series 9.

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

I think the Series 8 at 30k before discounts is as low as it will go. I bought one for my daughter who has a series 5 with a low battery health.

I’ve got a series 7 cellular which does everything I need it to and hope to upgrade to the ultra 3 when it launches next year.

How much was the 8, 45mm cellular selling for on Amazon? Showing unavailable right now but available on Flipkart for around 42k.
Is the Se2 44mm good? Thats available for around 30k. Looking to buy either for my daughter.

If you're not bothered about the latest model, series 8 GPS 45 mm was available (Not sure if it still is) for 34k on Flipkart which is a steal. Series 9 GPS 45 mm is available for 39k from San Francisco. Was planning to get one for dad hence researched the prices and have a cousin staying in San Francisco.

The SE2 is definitely a good bet. I'm confused between SE2 and Series 8. SE2 and Series 8 41 mm were both selling for around 29k. More card-specific discount offers are changing everyday.

Any major difference between 8 and 9? If not, I'd still prefer to save some bucks and go for the 8.

There is no major difference between both of them. Series 9 and its strap is being advertised by saying that is has been made from more environment friendly materials. The latest chip is present on the 9 and the brightness is better than the 8. The battery life is almost the same; I would suggest to go with the 8.

Only the new hand gesture thing and a new ultra wide band chip which helps in locating your iPhone more easily around the house. Can definitely go for S8, in fact wait for the Diwali sale on platforms for a similar/better discount as prices must’ve gone up by now in the current sales.

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

I recently purchased an Apple Watch Series 8 Cellular from Qatar. I believe only Airtel and Vi has a postpaid plan restriction, while Jio offers prepaid connectivity too. Currently I am using Vi prepaid in Mumbai and I would like to know if anyone is experiencing issues using Vi network on the watch or Jio is better?

Re: The quintessential Apple Watch thread

Got a deal on Apple Watch Series 9 45mm (GPS) in the Black Friday Sale in USA: USD 359, roughly around INR 30K. Same in India currently retails for around 45k, so saved a substantial sum. Cousin is flying down to Mumbai next month hence asked him to purchase for me.

I am looking for the same, with tax 359 or without it? Which marketplace in US?

Not sure what is the basis for this statement, but Garmin has some of the worst tracking performance amongst all smartwatches when it comes to accuracy. Apple watches on the other hand are the best.

There is a youtuber who actually does a quantified analysis of various health tracking features in various smart watches. Linking his channel here --> https://www.youtube.com/@TheQuantifiedScientist
