21.5K some 4-5 years back, IIRC the MRP was 22k.

Folks,

need some appliance gyan: need an electric kettle basically MTR, maggi, upma banaane ke liye.

I want one which can make maggi inside it - thus eliminating the need to carry a bowl. A good one which is rugged and *lightweight* is what I want.

If such a thing exists, (I have never looked out for electric cooking - the electricity bill can be nasty) what happens to the electricals when you want to wash it?

BSB - good qsns. its for overseas trips as a food backup plan. clearly i wont be footing the bill so that's okay. but dont want something which trips the power either.

some kettles have a they have a concealed element etyadi. see the bajaj link for more. it has a "noodle mode"

ofc, that's my doubt. cup-o-noodles is too painful to pack for an intl trip.

it'll just be several packs of tastemaker with noodles bought locally. cook n eat where veg food's not available or to taste.

Dudes, need to buy a Microwave oven.

I know this has been discussed before, but the options are still confusing.

Have read contradicting views on whether to buy a MW cum OTG or to buy MW and OTG seperately. The latter actually seems to work out cheaper!

NEEDS - baking cakes, mabye even cookies etc., heating food, making pop corn, toast bread, making/reheating tea/coffee, keeping food warm, etc.

* No non-veg will be cooked in the oven.
* Brown crust on cakes, etc., as obtained in normal oven is important.

So would the current MWs + OTG combo be upto the job? Or is it a better to buy a seperate solo/basic MW (without grill) and a seperage OTG? Do the combo units toast bread as well as the OTGs? Would prefer it combined if results are exactly the same, as would not have space for both and OTG may have to be kept on loft or something when not in use (so not convenient).

Also, if seperate OTG is chosen, which are good brands? Are Koryo and Morphy Richards good?

For MW I'd be inclined towards LG or Samsung... which is in line with what preople have recomended here.

Any valuable comments?

My budget is not more than 15000/-

MR is good. You can also check IFB for microwave.

Racoon... I've never been a baker, but I have serious doubts about micro-wave cakes. If you need to do this sort of cookery, I think you should go for microwave/convection oven.

Samsung? LG?

Hmm, could you please elaborate as to why Koryo is so bad? I'm talking about their OTGs only and not their MWs.

As for IFB, there seem to be too many -ve opinions about the company, so I'm apprehensive about them. Or are their MWs good?

Well, I'm zero about baking myself. It will be my mom who will be mostly using it. But she is zero about MWs too.

My question was that if we get a MW with convection, would the cakes turn out to be the same as a normal oven? And what about toasting bread? If its not upto the job then would need to buy seperate MW and OTG units. Then the question is would there be any advantage of getting a MW with grill (for veg stuff only)?
