Have you seen the product details on the net looks very good to me. 30X zoom with all the feature is simply great.
Even I was planning to pickup a Digital Camera and after reading the news about HS10, I am also waiting for this model. The only concern I had was that the released specifications did not mention about Metering options except to say 256 zones TTL metering. They have not mentioned if it will have spot metering and center-weighted metering in addition to the 256 zone metering.

My knowledge in this world is very limited. I am seeing this website FinePix HS10 / HS11 | Fujifilm Global

Frankly speaking I know two things only by now zoom - higher is the better and mega pixels - 10 is also good.

Hey Navin. Where in Mumbai can we get the SX120IS for 12.5K? It seems in pune no one is willing to give it at this price. I dont mind buying it from mumbai. Any contact details?

Not really. Unless there is evidence about IQ (Image Quality) all bets are off.

I am not going o start a Nikon vs Canon debate. The internet is full of these. I would request you to handle both cameras and work backwards.

a. what subjects do you like to shoot most?
b. What are the lenses you need to shoot these subjects?
c. Which system gives you these lenses?

Hi Navin,

I like to shoot animals, wildlife & also the sky!

Secondly will be used during holidays & travel extensively.

So now what would you recommend d90 or 50 d or is there an alternative?

Back then I thought I'd joke around saying that the G9 is falling apart so i should probably look for a replacement, as two screws near the tripod mount had fallen off by them self. But, it actually died last Saturday because of a screw that fell loose inside the camera. Its the 3rd Canon P&S developing a problem by itself, an ELPH 630 and IXUS 75 developed lense issues before this.

Here are two pictures. The problem is with the darker parts of the image which exhibit a flaky/chalky texture at times, some even at ISO 80. The bright parts are nice and smooth though. Problems come when printing 10*12", most pics I get printed are indoor group snaps. Yes, noiseninja helps but that decreases detail.

The the 2 pics on the link are at ISO 100 & the Camaro pic is at ISO 200(and a crop of actual size, from right underneath the logo). All taken with -1/3 compensation & the texture looks slightly exaggerated for some reason.

If you don't not mind, could you check for this with S90's pics at either ISO 80 & 100 If present, it is evident on the cam's screen itself. With that I can probably can conclude about the G11 too. (Tried checking with Dpreview's pics, but I find most taken are under ideal conditions in which even the G9 does fine) Any help would be great.

I guess you should try with My colors option set to normal/user/vivid. On G9 Vs IXUS75, that option needs to be active on G9 for it to match IXUS75's out-of-cam punchy pics, but I find it easy to make them look like that on the comp, but find doing the reverse tough.

hi there,
i own a nikon D90 and it is a very reliable DSLR.
for wildlife photography and animals you use a good zoom lens like 75-300mm or 100-500mm or i you have enough Vitamin-M go for a prime lens. they are a beauty.

D-90 will suffice you easily.

regards

Can I change the lens in future in this camera?

Can I have multiple options in lens?

Experts please reply.

You will not be able to change the Lens in this camera. You might be able to get some filters like UV, Polarization or some Lens hoods.

30X zoom should be quite sufficient for wide range of shooting.

If you're looking for swapping lenses, get an entry level DSLR like the Canon 1000D for 22k.

As and when your budget permits, you can add variety of lenses to it.

the D90 is probably your best bet for $100 more than a Canon 500D if offers quite a package.

Get the D90 with the 18-105VR (kit) and 70-300 VR ($500) (this combo willtake you from 26mm to 450mm). For birding you really need 600mm or so. For this you would have to consider relatively expensive lenses ($1000) like the Tamron 200-500 or Sigma 150-500. The other alternate is that you could skip the 70-300 altogether and get the Sigma 120-400 or if you can spend a bit more than Nikon 80-400 (or even the Tokina ATX-Pro 80-400).

Warning: 3rd part lenses like Sigma and Tamron usually do not perfrom as well as Nikon lenses. They often do not AF as fast and often are little out of focus (back focus). Most of these lenses have a very narrow range in which they are sharp (usually f/8 - f/16). As far as the Bigma (Sigma 50-500) is considered, which I have not used this lens any lens that has a zoom of 10x cannot really be distortion free especially when compared to the 18-105, 70-300 etc... leave alone the expensive f/2.8 zooms.

Try hand holding a camera at 500mm+. With my DSLR I find that 400mm is unsteady enough and the mass of the DSLR makes things a little easier.

If you are getting a P&S think 28-500. 24 will give you too much distortion to be useable in many circumstances (churches, buildings, etc..) and 600mm+ is really diffcult to control anyway.

Navin; 550D is out. Machdar; check the DSLR thread. You need a DSLR, else you might repent later.

I agree. For anything above 10X, somewhere around 300mm, I would say at least a mini tripod is required.

I tried shooting in a Lumix FZ35 with 18x (486mm), anything below 1/500 gave me a visible shake.

BTW what does the 550 have that the 500 does not? Anything significant?

what you will find is that as you get to heavier bodies (one of the heaviest of P&S's is the Canon SX1 or a DSLR) you can manage to hold the body stable even at 450-500mm (300mm on the APS-C sensor). I know I can with my old, feeble, infirm hands. You youngsters should easily be able.

However with a 100-400 on a Canon 40D (with battery pack) the long end (400mm x 1.6 = 560mm).was very diffcult (shutter speed 1/60-1/250) I needed to rest my elbow of atleast lean my shoulder on a stationary object.
