3.) HD Video recording with atleast 30fps
4.) Good Macro / Focal Length
5.) Battery Rechargeable

About the number of zooms i am not sure.
I have shortlisted these from sony ,
1.) DSC-TX1/H
2.) DSC-WX1/B
3.) DSC-HX1

Kindly lend your thoughts.
I would recommend the HX1. 20x zoom is useful plus you get full manual control. You get a 30 second shutter speed in Manual mode.

I guess the price is 29k in the showroom and about 22k in grey.

I can think of only one thing. If you know the which volume your reader is, example (E: or F: ), simply insert the card.

Go to the DOS prompt and format using the command prompt.

Example: "FORMAT E:"

Ok thankx for that.I'll try that and will update you.Thankx

Ok i tried it and decided to use the edit button since i am in the 20mins limit.

The message that came was "Insert New drive in G: and press ENTER when ready."

The camera is about a year and a half old and the card came with it.

Did you press enter and see what happened.

The "FORMAT" command by default displays this message.

You didn't mention your requirement, as the options you have shortlisted are from different segment.

If you want super compact camera to carry in pocket, with cool looks, look no further than TX1. TX1 actually is more oriented towards style and is targeted at female audience. It's touchscreen so it has a bit of learning curve if you have never used one, but apart from that, its gorgeous with good image quality and very fast performance.

If you require a point and shoot with simple, easy to use features, wx1 is a great buy. you can't go wrong with this one. It has wide angle lens, as low as 24mm, has 5x opt zoom, performance is very good and so is image quality. A very good buy too.

If you want one that have long range lens with decidedly better optics, image quality, performance, manual controls, HX1 is the one you should go for.

My pick would be HX1. You can always get a compact camera later on. Those are available dime a dozen in market. just my thoughts.

good luck hunting

@para_7k : Thanks a lot. @chevelle : Well the 24mm is not there is TX1/H so i feel WX1/B has a upper hand .Apart from this most features are just the same. And one is with 4x zoom and other is 5x zoom. Also in my comparison of HX1 with canon SX1 i feel HX1 is much better . Also can some one tell me any worthy competitor to HX1 from Panny , Oylmpus , Nikon . Also any service issues with any of the brands.

Panasonic: TZ-35
Nikon: P90
Olympus: SP590UZ

Out of these, I think only the TZ-35 has HD video.

Now since i am buying first time from grey i have few qs.
1.) When i buy can i check the camera at the shop if it is even working or not?
2.) How to know it is genuine with no issues?
3.) What comes along with it i.e in the box items ?
4.) Where can i buy it in Delhi (Availability : I checked Chandni chowk none had it )?
5.) What is the best price ?
6.) Anything else ?
7.) Any problem being faced by existing users / buyers ?
Regards

@fillmore : I hope you also look at Sony WX1/B .It offers you 5X zoom, CMOS Sensor , Focal Length is 24mm-120mm , Macro as close as 5cm , 350shots in one battery charge , Sweep Panorma (addictive) , HD Video Recording 720p (9mb/s size).
With canon you get a NiMH battery .In sony you get Li-Ion .And in Sony you can get upto 10fps which is missing in Canon .Canon also doesnot offer you HD video recording if i remember correctly.
Also canon is offering just the CCD in this model .

A small stupid question to all the gurus who have expensive camera. I have a canon powershot A520 model where in I can just record a film for 180 secs. Is this the limitation of the camera or is there any settings to increase the film duration. I have 4GB sandisk as memory.

@navin : With Bill HX1 is 29K. Without Bill 21-22K :-)
There is a difference of 25%.

@shishir_bn : Check out your user manual of A520 on page 56.It specifies max times as 30 sec at 10fps (640x480 resolution) and 3 minutes at 15fps (320x240 & 160x120 resolution).

Regards
