hey guys, i'm getting Panny FX35 for 17k from Alfa,Mumbai. It's without warranty. Should i go for it? Since it's w/o warranty i want to know how does the camera rank in terms of reliability?

I hope you mean FZ35. 17k is a great price for this camera. Do you get a dealer warranty or at least an assurance from the dealer ?

Try to check with anyone who has bought a camera from them without bill. If the dealer has a good reputation, you can very well buy it.

Nothing will actually happen to digital cameras unless you drop them or they get wet.

Folks, Any suggestions about Nikon P90? Two weeks back i saw it in UTV Bloomberg Techtree show, it has amazing 24x zoom and 12 MP. They said, it is available for 18K in India.

Yes the price is very high in India, I got it for around 18k($369) from Amazon, US.
Rjvora, I agree with Techno here, I own an SX20 too, and am happy with its capabilities and results, though it makes sense to buy from the US as the (considerable) price difference negates the voided warranty.

This is a good camera but a little dated. The Panasonic Lumix FZ35 or the Canon SX 20 IS are certainly better.

Thanks. Panasonic Lumix FZ35 costs around 27K in panasonic brand stores and it is more or less equal to Canon SX 20 IS in terms of price. Any other Ultra zooms within 20K?

The FZ 35 is available in Grey Market for about 19K.

If you're really concerned about warranty, then look at FZ28 for 24k or the Sony Cybershot DSC H50 that is available for 21K.

I have bought quite a few products from them even cameras. Though they are genuine products you will not get any warantee. I had no issues with any product bought from them.

yep. I do a lot of shopping from Alfa From mobile phones to my previous camera, all were bought from there. After all, there's no other place where you'll get imported genuine stuff at such cheap rates.
I had bought my Sony cybershot S600 4 yrs back. No issues at all.
I'm planning to go for the FZ35 only.

I recently bought a SONY SX44 handycam, I am not able to use the Tele macro function. When I select the Tele macro it autmatically Zoom-ins to the max and the image looks blurred and it says "cancelled by zoom". When I try to unzoom it the macro function gets cancelled.
I want to zoom like this..
appreciate your expert advice.

Just to give you an idea; this camera is costing around 27K in India and I am buying it from US which will cost me around 18K. Difference is of Rs. 9,000/- which is a big one.

Fuji s5600

Photography has become my new hobby. So I plan to buy a entry level DSLR either Canon EOS 1000D or Nikon D3000

Question

Should I sell this cam Fuji s5600 and buy a new DSLR ? or will this one suffice

How much would I get for this camera if I plan to sell it ? Its in very good condition.

What are the modes that you normally use in this camera ? Do you shoot in Manual mode ?

I would suggest you use this camera for year or two and then think of spending for a DSLR. You can do a lot with this camera alone and will also get to know what you need in a new camera as you go along.
