Don't we love car with crumple zones as well as a solid passenger cabin?
Ergo tempered glass (not the newfangled reusable crap) and bumper.

The hassle of replacing screen etc is just not worth it.

In other news, Zion technologies in Gurgaon offers screen replacement with 1 year warranty (supposedly from FoxConn, lol!!) in 7k. So far, so good.

Agreed - But even with a bumper case the screen can get scratched. I use these screen protectors - http://www.zagg.com/us/en_us/invisibleshield

They are a bit pricey but then they last me about a year, and if they are scratched you get a new one for free, just have to pay for the shipping.

Also I've not seen such a quality product with any other brands.

Like i said bumpers (not bumper case) has served me well even the edges gets protected, whereas tempered glass (spigen one) i have seen not doing much with a fall.

Fan of this and recommends to everyone

Am using that exact bumper. Great product. I wasn't advocating only the tempered glass. But this bumper and a screen guard. Doesn't have to be tempered glass though, the link I sent has 3 different options.

After using my iPhone 5s and iPod 6th gen with scratch guards/ tempered glass and back cases, I simply removed the scratch guards and cases one day and have never gone back. The feel, sleekness can't be matched. iPhone feels superb without any cases. Only time I use the case is while charging as the surface of the place where I keep the phone may scratch it.

One rule of thumb is no change or keys in pockets. That way you minimise risk of scratches. Too much bulkness of phone spoils the enjoyment of using it.

@blackwasp - Thats true. After using my iphone without case, the feel feels very light and good to use.

Thanks all for your replies!! I am still waiting reply on iphone 6s heating issues. Is this seen or observed in most of 6s?

+1 to what blackwasp said.

I too was using a bumper for my iPhone 5s. But once I removed it and started using without it; there is no going back to it. The sleekness & feel is unmatched. Try it. Suggestion came from our common friend & bhpian Jhonnyboy.

Yes sometimes iPhone heats up if you don't close all the running applications. If you play games on your phone then it's but obvious. Some apps like snapchat, YouTube, Autocad etc makes iPhone heated.

I've noticed that sometimes your apps are updating in the background which makes it heat. iPhone doesn't get as much heated as compared to samsung phones.

Best solution is to let it cool down for some seconds. Turn off the screen and wait for a few seconds. it has worked for me.

I am very grateful for the tempered glass screenguard & thin Spigen case I use with my iPhone 6+. I have dropped it umpteen times in 2 years & the screenguard has 5 visible scratches. Yes, nude & sleek is beautiful, but scratches & broken screen, a disaster!

I have never heard of an iPhone heating up, best to refer it to Apple service under warranty.

Only one such case I have ever seen - recently at an Apple service center. It was a 6s Plus. No one had any clue why. The area was primarily the earpiece.

::off topic
How did they ever come up with such a name for the company: Fox and Con(n)
..leaves so much to be "trust"ed

My 6 plus does heat up sometimes when I keep it in my jeans pocket. It happens when there are apps running in the background. So I close all apps and then it becomes okay. Never really checked if those apps have background refresh switched on or notifications etc
But I've definitely felt the burning on my leg many a time.

I am someone who shared a similar opinion earlier. But the one time my daughter dropped the phone accidentally onto hard concrete while standing on the chair and trying to click a pic during the India vs England ODI at the Gabba, i realized i was prudent to have the phone within a bumper case. Everyone sitting around stopped and looked to see the damage to the phone on hearing the thud, but i escaped with just some scratches to the case, and the phone was intact. The outer bumper protector unfortunately cracked, and i had to replace it.

Re: The iPhone Thread

I have used a iPhone 5 for 3 years out of which, in the last 1.5 years the phone had no protection. I have dropped the phone a few times from 3-5 ft height onto concrete floor. The damages were dents/scratches on the aluminium body. Now comes a more severe attack on the phone.

When the phone was 2 years old (and was cover-less), I had an accident. I fell from my bike (40-50kmph), face down on a rough tar road and was dragged a good 8-10 feet before coming to a halt. The phone was in my jeans front pocket with the screen facing me. There was a sharp gash on the corner near the camera. The plastic shiny area surrounding the camera and flash was slightly shattered in the corner till where the camera started. No other damage. The phone did business as usual until I replaced it a year later with a 5s. Five months since the 5s arrived, it doesn't wear anything and it looks and feels gorgeous (it's in black).

Long story short, these phones are durable and can easily cope with the abuse for 2-3 years (typical life of these gadgets).
