Yeah, I've seen those Lemon advertisements. Even the advertisements are really silly.

Nokia 2730 uses the famous BL5C battery with 1020 mAh capacity. Battery backup would be good.

Some can be silly like what we thought about Karbon but the built quality is good, price is, there are lot of functions and they sell a lot!
I was just commenting on the silly sounding names of these mobile phone companies.

I do agree that they provide more features at less price.

I can suggest another phone for you - Nokia XM 5530.
Price of 5530 should be in 9K range.

You could also have a look at the latest Samsung Android phones - Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5. Galaxy 3 offers great features for its price.

Galaxy 3 is around $300 here. So its very expensive. I can get a new 3gs for that price.

Nokia 5530 is also around $230 here.

My budget is around $100-125. Which is Rs. 6000-7000 range in India.

It doesn't have to be touchscreen, but if it has wi-fi it would be good. everything else is secondary. You can say just two requirements, calls with good call quality and wi-fi if possible.

I know its wierd requirements, but that's how it is.

Haven't used X10 though. Is it as good as Wave?

Thanks for such a fantastic review. What is the price that you paid? What about warranty?

Thank you CrAzY dRiVeR. I paid 17.7k. They are giving 1 year warranty for the handset and 6 months for the battery. Screen resolution is 480 by 800 pixels 3.3 inches.

I think the only positive of the N97 is the QWERTY keyboard. Rest of the departments, it is simply blown out of the water by the Wave .

Got the BSNL 3G connection today. Was quite a hassle dealing with the indifferent people there, but far better than earlier days when one had to wait for months to get a BSNL prepaid. As of now it is showing service unavailable. May be I'll have to top up with some specific data plan in order to use it? I'll use it for a couple of days and then write about 3G experience on the Wave.

I was looking for a car kit i.e. wind screen mounted phone holder and car charger, checked in a couple of stores but was not available there. It is not listed in samsung India website also. I could find the kit only in Samsung Australia website. Guess I will have to look for alternative options.

For wifi enabled handset at affordable price - you could check out Samsung Star wifi and Samsung Monte.

Note that these two are not smartphones.

What is the usability of China mobiles in metro cities now? Have all the operators blocked them?

^^^Not at all. As long as they have a valid IMEI no., they can be used. They seem to be getting increasingly popular in the lower price brackets and some even in midrange (like Micromax, etc).

What do you mean by China mobiles ? Are you referring to the smuggled ones which were sold in grey market without bill or warranty ?

Govt has put a ban on such handsets since they don't have a valid IMEI number. And IIRC, they are banned everywhere, not just in the metro cities.

I use HTC Wildfire and batter backup is too low. If you use the GPS then the battery will drain heavily

By maps, am guessing you are asking about the actual maps, and not the OVI maps software. There is no real way to check if it is latest or no, but you can enable "Maps Improvement" under Settings > Navigation, and set synchronization under Settings > Synchronization to "At start-up and shut-down". That way your maps will get updated with Nokia's servers as and when.

The other option is to install Nokia Map Loader, delete the current maps from your phone and download maps afresh from the Nokia servers.

(Not sure if there is a better way...)

Check out the Android thread. Some members are using Galaxy series of phones and discussing problems and solutions.
