You can head over to the SE webbie where they have a virtual phone you can try out too
Thanks bottle, Can you comment on its camera image quality and sound quality both from internal speakers and earphone which SE gives. Thanks again.

I installed remote control software on my IR enable mobile phone.
Spent some time with the TV remote in my office cafeteria.

During lunch time I increase the volume.
Some guy who has the TV remote brings down the volume.

I raise it.
Some one shouts at the guy who has the remote.
He lowers it.

I raise it. some one starts shouting again.
This poor fellow is bewildered. He has no idea why the TV is now showing F Tv during lunch. Then some spiritual channel. Everything going crazy.

Was awesome fun.

I am facing severe problems with the 6500classic. The phone is very much under warranty just a few months old and had a hardware problem. Hence they got the entire motherboard changed as the on/off switch stopped working. I got this done under warranty from the Nokia center at lower parel.
The back panel of my repaired phone was chipped badly, it was in perfect condition when i gave it to them. Went back and demanded a replacement this time, after much delay and trips to the service center I got a new 6500classic.
Now barely a month since the replacement the phone refuses to turn off...it seems like a design defect since this is the second time the same problem has occurred on two separate phones. I even heard that from several retailers that the 6500c production was halted or stopped due to several defects.
I don't want to be stuck with the lemon model, I rather pay the difference and get a better phone or a refund.

Would be great if there is someone I can contact to resolve this.

Please write a report on core.nic.in, it'll take a while but nokia senior officers will contact you within a week or two. I got my phone changed through this procedure. Or you could go to consumer court, file an application, nokia will call you to settle the matter. Try the first procedure before the 2nd one. cheers

i was using viewty for 9 months before I moved to diamond recently.
Viewty is an excellent camera phone - i did have some reliability issues with the screen, but lg support was excellent and replaced the touch screen in 1 day!! It has a decent battery life, excellent camera, very usable in the car as a phone and video player. There are some limits like max 500 contacts and 400 smses and max 2gb microsd memory (although you can put in 8gb with some caveats) and no gps.
It won't be a bad decision. The only reason I moved to diamond, was because my dad's old o2 xda2s was giving him problems and so I gave him the viewty and got myself the diamond.
A worthy upgrade over viewty is samsung omnia. However only omnia 8gb is available in market for 32k, the 16gb omnia is not launched in india (at 34k) and so I decided to go for the diamond (4gb non-upgradeable memory) at 26k. Diamond is no match for viewty camera and battery, but otherwise diamond is a very decent phone with excellent UI and features!!

So if you want an excellent sub-20k camera phone - viewty
if you want an excellent windows mobile phone (with ok camera and battery life) - diamond at 26k
if you want the ultimate phone (combo fo viewty and diamond) - samsung omnia 16gb at 34k (currently not in stocks) - also shopkeepers will try to sell you import omnia 16gb for 33k without b&w (not worth the risk) or omnia 8gb with 8gb microsd card (total 16gb - again not worth it as base memory is 8gb not 16gb)

agree with you, 45k for a phone is waaay to high, you can get a nice laptop for that kind of money. dont see too much of it seeling at this price, and there will be a price cut, you can be sure of that. I recently read an article that said that only 11,000 iphones have been sold through airtel and vodaphone since it was launched and apple had set aside 50000 iphones for india. so there might be a better deal there too.

With the dollar going up the expected price cuts may not happen that soon.

I think the omnia 16gb (whenever it is in available in india) would be a better option at 35k
currently though i only see the omnia 8gb at 33k at most stores

The mobile companies it seems hold on to prices nowadays and dont even let the natural depreciation to happen. Here in Jaipur the Nokia Communicator ( E 90 is it ?) was launched at 35 k about 12-15 months back and even today the rates are the same.
