Dunno about you guys, but I always loved the Panasonic Toughbook lineup.

http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp...tGroupId=12871

Prob is they cost almost double the price of a regular notebook.

I have no reason to pay extra for the toughbook.
OK so the gurus have said that AMD turion 2Ghz will rock.
tsk my friend, thoda cool factor is required. Imagine opening up the ferrari laptop at a conference. supercool.
Rehaan, you're the only one rooting for the HP. I think it's good, but a little staid. Even the Lenovo/IBM has no wow factor. Thank god they have a touchpad, i hate that bloody dandi in the middle of the keyboard.
OK so today I'm waiting for the quotes on the Sony s series and the lenovo. Then tomorrow i'll put in the order and wait. I should have it in a week or two.
YAY! Actually I'll tell you'll a secret? I want the carbon fibre ferrari laptop very badly. So I can look supercool! Yay!

you are right about the coolness of the ferrari .
And yes people are right about the turion, but make sure you get 512RAM and a good graphics card with it.
But if you want the ultimate in peformance, the true king, go for a dual core athlon 64 X2 laptop. Its the ultimate machine, The McLaren F1, the Buggati Veyron of the laptop world. will cost you 2500$s, so if that budget is too high, 2GHz turion will rock too,

As for HP, it does not really matter which company. None of these companies make these laptops, except maybe motherboards etc., in case of Intel.

So see what is the hardware inside and how is the ASS. 3 years warranty is a must have.
If you finally decide your machine, go to notebookreviews.com and read the benchmark tests. For a gamer quake benchmarks will make sense, for business user business winstone tests will be the ones.

I think you mean 2GB .
Ferrari 4000 is the one you are going for, right? whats the cost.
It comes with a ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X700 card which is quite good.

Its the best of the bunch, and in performance among the top few(Gets beaten by the 2.4GHz amd 64 though, which is expected). If you do not go for widescreen it will cost you less.
I was going through US websites and most quote it at 2000$ level, this quote is for buying in india?

Aah then its cheeep . Good purchase, and while you are at it, why not buy two bose speakers too to go along with the machine. hehe just kidding. On a more serious not, audio equipment is cheap there, so you could pick up some nice stuff.
And I hope you are aware that the ACER laptop makes ferrari engine sounds while starting up.

Well, Steeroid and JK,
here's the quote of the products you suggested. Lenovo is pretty pricey yaar.
So should I close this at the ferrari acer? (hopeful look)

I would say Sony, for two reasons:

1. The S Series is vastly different from the other Vaio products.

2. It runs for 5 hours on battery. More if you choose 'Battery Saving' mode...

3. The screen is great.

4. You turn heads when you pull it out and start working...anywhere. (v1p3r by my side says Sam doesnt need more heads to be turned)

5. Everyone I know that uses the Acer Ferrari laptops are pissed off with it. Looks good, apparently it doesnt go as good as it looks.

Amd 64bit will beat the comparable Intel 32 bit any day. That all show no go was more w.r.t Ferrari 3000. If you dont want to pay the premium for show, go for Sony Laptop with 64bit turion, it will beat the centrino anyday. Its actually an apples to oranges comparison as 64bit has a design advantage. Is like Indirect injection vs common rail
