congrats on your ferrari. Is it 4002 or 4005?

I would recommend 4002 and upping it( the extra price for 4005 is not justified)

but then there is a different charm of having a fully loaded laptop

In business winstone benchmark(With M$ access/word etc.,) it fared worse than the Pentium M.
the reason is the 40% L2 cache latency increase. Infact pentium M persorms equalt to AMD X2 64 4200+ processor.
Only place it will shine is multithreaded applications. Looks like duo barely matches or outperforms older processors from competition. Which is real real bad news for Yonah!

And duo processors will work better if thsoe get application taht are written for it. P4 duo flopped and it even didnt perform on par with a P4.

Thanks steer for all the advice. I would have decided on the S58 - but this processor business made the decision. Now I've got a Ferrari Laptop Yay!

Yonah is the new processor from intel, the Dual core centrino - Duo, which means Dual core. But its not lived upto the expectations, being marginally better than the Turion(One which is in ferrari). So its a case of 1 year old processor being a competition to a newly launched one, which is not a good thing for intel .
As jkdas has saidm unless applications are build to use the dual core, even your ordinary pentium M will beat this new processor. Congrats on your ferrari though. Its coming in Feb right? Make sure you pump up the volume when you start it. Vroooooom is the sound it makes!
