Guess this is the one - http://www.flipkart.com/lenovo-ideap...7-207e61bec04a

I just purchased it at Flipkart and awaiting the delivery. After the HDFC cashback (current promo @ flipkart), it costed me a little less than 44k - I hope this meets my expectations.

Yes I assume they renamed flex 2 to flex 14. Though the flipkart specs say it has the gt 720m gpu, the lenovo site says gt 740m. Flipkart probably got the specs wrong.

Congrats on your new laptop. When you get it delivered, please check the gpu installed and let me know

thanks sgiitk and ece2k2.

Yes, looks the same. The price I have stated is incl. a case (backpack standard, though I managed to get a shoulder bag instead), while Flipkart is without the bag. The case is about 2k, and as per the experts (my children) is of a very good quality.

My FIL recently bought this http://www.flipkart.com/samsung-np30...d-2df9a11deb2e

His needs were similar to yours.

I've been using Samsung Laptop (different model though) for over 2 years now and it never has given me any problems.

NP300E5V-S02IN

Check this one out!
Ci3 3rd gen+Radeon 8750m!
750 GB, 6 cell battery, anti-glare LED display.
It was around 33-34k when it was at flipkart. You can still get it at your local laptop store. I recommend this one, its a kind of a future proof machine.

But I can see you don't play games, so, you can also go the AMD way.

Hp 15-n020AX
APU quad core, 1 TB HDD, 4 GB, Ubuntu. @29490 on flipkart.
It also got usb 3.0 ports.

Both are my favourites right now and I cannot decide between the two. Good luck.

I bought a HP laptop for 33k from Reliance Digital. You can check that, its good. I chose HP as currently you have an option to upgrade the warranty for 1499/- for another 2 years from HP.

re: THE Laptop Thread: Configs, deals and questions

Want a 3rd gen i5 (to reduce cost, don't what the latest) 4 gb ram (will slot another 4 bg later) 14in (need to travel too) 500 gb laptop to do routine work + some no so heavy video editing with movie maker or some such software, budget under 40 K!

Can you please suggest, brands, models or configs that would fit this requirement. Thanks.

I am personally against buying ANY samsung product. Just have too many bad experiences with most of their products. I would always prefer spending a lil extra for Lenovo, HP or worst case Dell.

This one looks good. This APU is A8 or A10 ?

Just saw that Toshiba unveiled a 4K Ultra-HD laptop at CES2014.

This is just taking things to a ridiculous level. Even a full HD is an overkill in a small laptop screen!

re: THE Laptop Thread: Configs, deals and questions

I am on the lookout for a replacement to my office laptop.

needs -
Light weight
6- 8 hrs battery life
slim
SSD
upto 900 € cost ( in Germany)

would like -

Convertible - Tablet/PC.

Basically I am looking for a PC- Tablet Ultrabook.

I, like many, looked at the Lenovo Yoga. While browsing through this thread, I also got recommendations for Dell XPS 12 & Sony Duo Ultrabook.

Any other alternatives?

Also, what is the battery life on the Dell XPS 12 & Sony Duo Ultrabook? I know Sony sells the sheet battery too. but without it, what is the battery time?

My usage -

MS Office, Internet. nothing heavy.

Please suggest.

I found a Samsung series 9 15'' Ultrabook (model number NP900X4D-K03SE) very impressive.
esp the battery life. brochure says 10 hrs. practically it should be 7-8 hrs.

128 GB SSD, i5 (3rd Gen).

I see it online for 800€. absolutely worth it I think.

It is not a convertible thingy, no tablet functionality, no touch screen. Pure business. I think I like it.

Anybody used one?

Hello everyone. I'm looking for a laptop(no ultrabooks) to replace my old one.
I'm confused between 2 Dell models- 14R i3 with touchscreen(cause of win8) or i5 without touchscreen. My budget is around 45k and only one of these features would fit it.

Does i3/i5 make much difference in normal day to day work( no gaming/designing etc) or should I give up the touchscreen?

And is there any old laptop exchange program right now? Flipkart has one but on selected HP models.

Thanks.
