Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Few quick observations from Moto G 2nd gen received yesterday from Flipkart purchased on 6-10. Few observations are mainly UI based and in comparison to Note 2 (N7100) used till now.

1) Can we have the battery % displayed next to battery icon on the top? If no, is there any other alternative.

2) If there are any notifications like missed calls / messages, are these not shown against thier respective icons with a no. as shown in Note 2, like 2 unread posts on messages icon etc.

3) Is there a way to block unwanted calls similar to Note 2. If no, best alternative.

4) Any good file manager for Moto G 2nd gen, since used to this in Note 2.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I've ordered the Mi3 that was automatically added to my cart but have already received several requests for the phone.

If it does arrive (message said, will deliver if stocks available), i will hand it over to the first person who asked for it (on or off the forum).

If you are into DIY detailing you might have an APC with you or any detergent with a slight agitation with a toothbrush will work.

1) No you can't. Not without rooting it, anyway.
You can try installing a third party battery app that will show the battery percentage in the status bar.

2) Unread counts on the app icons is something that only Sammy phones have out of the box IMO.

There are some third party apps which enable that functionality. The paid version of Nova launcher, for example.

3) Again, search in the Play Store, I'm sure there are many apps for it.

4) I use ES file manager, and I'm quite happy with it.

Yes, I got my MI3 version updated to version 34 (MIUI-KXDMIBH34.0) yesterday night when I connected it to WiFi. As of now I have not noticed any visible change.

Anyone here using Mi3 running on Cyanogenmode? Any other custom ROM (stable) available for Mi3?

I got the update notification but will process it via WiFi when I get home in a bit.

The phone did ask me to back-up data. Is data back-up really required?

Rather best procedure is to first backup the data then format/factory reset the phone and wipe the cache partition, then update the firmware, then factory reset and wipe the cache and restore your backup. Looks lengthy but ideal way of firmware upgradation.

Received my Redmi 1S yesterday. Overall happy with the product. Only grouse is call speaker loudness is less even at max volume. Is there any way to boost this?

I don't think it is needed. Doesn't cause any problems generally, but just to be safe I did. Then deleted the earlier backup file and kept this latest one. The changes in the changelog didn't quite affect me cuz I might not be using those functions, so not aware of those changes.

Only change I noticed is on the start-up screen, the "android" at the bottom of the screen has now become "powered by android"

That's a lengthy method indeed, however I have a doubt which I have asked even earlier but didn't get a clear reply.

What happens to the backup file on the phone if I factory reset my phone? Is the backup file also deleted? If yes, then how can I go about the "take backup --> hard reset phone" maneuver? What should I do with the backup file? Or else, transfer it to my PC and then again transfer it to the phone?

How does it work? Thanks.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Received my Redmi 1 S last night and I have moved to Mokee ROM based on CM 11 almost immediately.

MIUI was a worst experience, after coming from stock android experience on my Nexus 5.

Lets see how the REDMI 1s fares with CM11.
