| ![]() Looks like after Note 7, the S7 is following in its footsteps. A Canadian man of Indian origin experienced it smoking in his hands when driving and barely managed to throw it out the window but not before sustaining 2nd and 3rd degree burns in both hands. Wonder how disastrous it'd have been had he not removed the phone from the pocket quickly, might've even lead to an automobile accident. Seems from the following link that Samsung had problems with its washing machine lids being blown off during operation hurting people's shoulder and a broken jaw as well. Somewhere between their almost unknown brand presence and a quick rise to the ranks of one of the top electronics manufacturers in a matter of a few years, I guess they forgot that quality needs good R&D and extensive testing. I know a couple of people whose LCD t.v's of Samsung conked out in 1-2 years (panel issue/board problem), replacement of which costed a bomb. They innovated quite a lot earlier, the SAMOLED screen (though vulgarly oversaturated), T.V's with gesture control, fridges with switchable modes to make the freezer as regular fridge etc, today they seem to resting on their success and letting the quality drop drastically. I used to like the brand a few years back.. our Samsung fridge served loyally for 17 years without a failure and looked good as new. Now though, I've changed it to a Sharp which I got at a great deal. One product failing is symptomatic I'm afraid. http://gizmodo.com/canadian-man-says...sho-1789010386 |

| ![]() I am using SG Note4 for nearly two years without any problem. But from today morning Contacts is not opening with message ".... unfortunately it stopped". I searched web and did couple of things like clearing cache, removing as default etc but did not help. I can not call anybody. But there is workaround though when I open whatsapp and go to view in address book and can call the contact. But can not call those contacts who are not on whatsapp. Can receive call from anybody. Is there any other way to make work the phone/contacts without factory reset. I have exported the contacts vcf file to sd card(32gb). Many times I received message that there is not enough space (just 500 mb odd space left with red line)in my internal memory. Then I used to transfer whatsapp videos etc to sd card and clear some memory. Can this be reason? Please suggest way out. |

| ![]() That's not ethical to deny him repairs when he is willing to pay for the glass. I hope it's some sort of joke. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Its shopping time in our house for Smartphones. 2 phones were already planned when I lost my current one so now I am also in the queue to get a new phone. So need help from all you experts out here in choosing a model or at least clearing the confusion. Please do not add to it ![]() A phone for my dad Basic usage of Whatsapp, Uber, phone calls. Budget: within 7k Models in Mind: Coolpad Mega 2.5D A phone for my wife Moderate usage of Whatsapp, Uber, phone calls, photo, facebook and emails. She requires battery life, storage, no heating, acceptable performance. Her current Redmi 2 was very slow right from the 1st month and low in internal storage as well. Budget: within 15k Models in Mind: None as of now, need suggestion As for me, I am totally confused. Though I like the OP3 but at 27k its 7k over my budget. Within 20k the only other phone that I am liking is Lenovo Z2 Plus. So any or all suggestions are welcome. |
