Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

How i wish they had a memory card slot on the 64GB. Does not seem to make sense paying 5k extra for 64GB space.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

My mother's Moto G Turbo started showing a thin green line right through the middle of the screen from top to bottom.

Phone was purchased in March this year and is in warranty.

Now we will be encountering the 'dreaded' Motorola service experience.

Guys, contemplating buying the OnePlus 3T - Not sure what memory size to pick. On the usage, mostly used to snapping pics and music (about 2 GB if it) and Podcasts (around 2 GB) Is 64GB good or should I buy the (rather pricey) 128 Gigs variant?

Dont use FB or games at all.

@pratyush6 you can buy the 64GB variant and have Google Drive backup enabled. With Jio and the like, 4G is ubiquitous and cloud backup is cheaper. Google have value for money storage plans if you need to store large amounts of data.

64GB will be good enough for you. I have been using a 64 GB config for last six months with lots of pics, videos and movies stored, yet there is surfeit of space. No point splurging on the 128 GB unless you really need it, which you don't in my view.

The main thing here is videos.
If you record videos in the highest resolution OR if you copy a lot of videos to watch on that (small) screen, then you might be able to exhaust tha 64 GB limit.

Games is another way to fill up storage, but that you are not into.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Looks like demonetization has hit the phone market too.

Finally some queries regarding buying new phones.

Phone manufacturers give you all sorts of excuses to make you buy the phone with higher internal storage so that they can make a profit. It benefits cloud storage companies and mobile data service providers.

The higher capacity memory will cost $10-15 max when the buy in bulk.

You sure don't seem to require the extra storage. You might get 52-55 GB of usable space, which should satisfy more than 98% of the people out there.

Guess what- I still live with 16 GB of internal storage on my Mi4i. I use free music using Gaana on Wifi, Wynk to store some music offline and Google photos to backup photos. With 1115 GB (FUP) of wifi at home, I can pretty much do whatever I want using cloud or streaming service.

16 GB is very less storage for a phone, I wonder what people would do with 128 GB and 256 GB?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Looking from the point of view of the company it makes sense, but for the higher price they could have had some more changes as well to justify the 5k premium.

Me? I use my phone as the audio player in car as well so it's loaded with FLACs which needless to say eats up space like pac man :P

My phone has 32Gb internal, and I put the 64gb sd card from ny now-seldom-used tablet in it. It contains most of my music collection in MP4 format (despite seldome listening on the phone except when travelling, but hey, it's there, several country maps fromSygic (oh! guess what: despite buying a Sygic world licence, I now mostly just use Google and maps!) and... some other stuff, I guess.

It did contain all my images, and was the destination for saving pics and video from the camera. One day, I asked myself what I was using the internal 32Gb, that I'd paid for, for! the answer was not much!

I reconfigured the camera to write to internal storage. It is much faster. Not that noticeable taking snaps, but definitely so when viewing them, especially on an attached PC.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

^^ Agreed on buying a higher storage version if you have a large music collection or a ton of map data. Data connection on highways in many countries is questionable.

I'm not sure photos is a reason why one needs a lot of storage.

Google Pixel XL gets 7.1.1. The update pack is 263 MB odd and available OTA. Gets two new features - double tap to wake up (was always available in host of other phones since long) and lift to wake up.
