Re: SCOOP Pics! Maruti Suzuki's new 7 seater MPV Ertiga *UPDATE* Spotted again Pg.29,

Looks tasty! The interiors resemble the Ritz too, though the tachometer is not mounted on the dashboard. I hope they have increased the GC by some margin. The thing to watch out would be the engine and the power it generates. If they get this right along with the pricing, they sure have a chart-buster on their hands!

Aren’t the interiors same as Swift? I see Ertiga sharing lots of interiors parts with the New Swift. Even the Steering wheel is the exact same I guess. The beige steering wheel looks really out of place there. Is this is the first time Maruti is offering complete beige steering wheel?

Re: SCOOP Pics! Maruti Suzuki's new 7 seater MPV Ertiga *UPDATE* Spotted again Pg.29,

The car looks neat from outside, however the dash treatment in Off White color looks bad. They should have gone with Black. that would have looked Bling!

Also the 3rd row seats are strictly for children. Anyone above 5'5'' would surely find it difficult on bumpy roads.

It would be prudent to see how they price it. LDi starting at 6 lacs would be a killer.

Seeing the pics, IMO, it's the second row which is very tight, and the upright position of the second row seats may make life difficult for passengers.

And, my pick among the Autocar pics too!

Judging by the location and position of the seat-belts, the second row seats would 'most probably' be of reclining type.

Pretty sure that would not be the angle of recline of the middle row at-least.
The seats most probably are not inclined full back . It seems from the pics as if they have just been removed from their regular positioned hinges to make them fold .

Seems like 2nd and 3rd seats are push back recliner support kind. Also if you observe carefully there are clip locks on 3rd row hand-rests; something like in Innova 2nd & 3rd to keep the seat belts in position when not in use. 3rd row shall be possible as the seats can be folded down completely and locked down to keep them in flat position. 2nd row 60:40 split also as the recline option from the seat belt positioning. Whether 2nd row seats sliding function? not sure

Perhaps, this 60:40 split may soon find its way into the Swift and Ritz. The 60 part also may be fold-able to facilitate entry into the third row.

Thanks for sharing this picture!

The 2nd row looks like a tight fit unless Maruti has given the option of sliding the seat backward. The positioning of the seat belts for the 2nd row is hinting at reclining seats and also the option to move the seats forward or backward.

If the slide option is not there, it will be a right for everyone except the driver & passenger in the front seat.

Another thing I noticed was the 3rd row seat's head rests are too close to the rear hatch and a rear end collision may not be a nice thing!

IMHO, Its 2nd row seats would be of India's 1st Gen Wagon-R LXi/VXi type, these are not held in position by side hooks on pillars as like other hatchbacks.
They're only supported by the locks built in them for Reclining, operated by the Switch like knobs located on their Inner back side, as can be seen in the pic shared by the bhp-ian at another thread.

The Ertiga looks like the elder sister of EECO.

The interiors look decent, but I notice an asymmetrically placed aircon unit for the second & third row?

What it seems is that there must be two leavers to fold the seats like it is in a xylo or an innova . One leaver to fold the backrest and one to fold the actuall seat.
If you look at the pic of one of the backseat folded , you will notice there is a slider lock present on the side of the seats . And as the seat still is not fully down hence one can assume that after the slider locks have been pushed down , the seats further have to be pushed down and dont come down freely by themselves .

Hence what i feel is even the other backrest in the photo which seems to be a bit upright might have been removed from its regular hinges by the slide unlocks present on the side which might have made the backrest come a bit forward and hence the awkard recline .

Re: SCOOP Pics! Maruti Suzuki's new 7 seater MPV Ertiga *UPDATE* Spotted again Pg.29,

Seems to be an all round package that MSIL is giving. The interiors have been taken from Swift but could have been better in Black as I am not a beige fan.
However if Zdi is around 10 OTR than it would be a hotcake considering they have done some refinements in DDiS.

Well, I for one, like the looks of the Ertiga, even though it has not turned out to look as flamboyant as the concept version which was unveiled at the previous Auto Expo

The looks from the rear look quite nice and understated, in these days of bulky and prominent posteriors .

IMO, this will be among one of the better looking MPVs to be moving around on our roads.

Maruti, please start cranking up the production to enough levels to sell more than 5000 units a month.
