SCOOP: New Hyundai (new i20?) spotted testing in Chennai

Caught this plying on the Chennai - Chithoor - Bangalore highway, close to Chennai. I am quite positive this is the new i20 that is being tested. Sorry, due to heavy traffic I was not able to get a front picture. Can anyone else confirm this?

Ya, this is for sure the new F/L i20 being tested. Tail lamps, ORVMs, Side profile and tailgate speaks about it.

Yes, you are right. This is the facelife i20 which is extensively discussed in the thread below -

Re: Hyundai i20 Face-Lift (2012) Spotted for the first time in India on Pg. 2

A reliable contact from a Hyudai dealer in Chennai has said that the facelifted i20 may be launched by mid March '12. I believe the sales people have been shown the car which has been changed to adapt the fluidic design theme.
So, for those who are about to get an i20 delivered soon, may want to hold off for few weeks.

Re: Hyundai i20 Face-Lift (2012) Spotted for the first time in India on Pg. 2

I inquired at Advaith and Trident about new i20. Both of the dealers were saying that the new i20 would be available by mid march. The sales person from Advaith told me that the old i20 production has been stopped and henceforth new i20 would be delivered for all the bookings made now. However when I got in touch with Trident, the sales person was trying to sell me a 2011 i20 CRDI. I shot him at point blank saying that I would prefer waiting for new i20 rather than going for the old one. I am fed up of the sales persons at these car showrooms.

Were you offered any discounts for it? Probably it's time for those to haggle for any un-sold i20!

The usual freebies like sunfilm, foot mats etc. No cash discount, in fact the sales person told that he can't give cash discount on diesel models. More over I was not keen on old i20 when new is just around the corner so I didn't push him too much and did not bargain.

Fluidic i20 on its way

Hyundai is planning to introduce the Fluidic i20 soon it seems. Just came across a picture of the car in the "Turbos & Pistonz" page in Facebook (TURBOS & PISTONZ !! | Facebook).

Some more pics of the car including scoop shots can be seen in this link:

Nice, I quite like the way the new fluidic i20 looks (that is if this is the picture of the actual car). With the existing i20 already looking good, I was apprehensive about the fluidic treatment spoiling the overall look and feel of the car, but this is surprisingly good.

Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

The current i20 looks way better then the fluditic i20. The design looks good on Verna only and not so good on i10, or Eon, or even i20 for that matter.

Any idea when is this getting launched, soon meaning sometime this quarter?

Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

I agree, the fluidic design looks good on their bigger cars. the verna and the upcoming sonata and elantra. hyundai is taking their family design styling a bit too seriously.
moreover, the i20 was already a brilliant car apart from some minor setbacks.Hopefully still we can expect some serious discounting before the new model makes its way ?

Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

Is it only me or does others feel the same too ? The front profile has a bit of Honda Civic elements i feel.
The fluidic design doesn't look well integrated making it appear like 2 different cars. The present i20 looks way better IMO.

Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

1. There exists a thread on this topic.
2. Speaking on the topic, I see the current i20 as a much better looker than this fluidic version.

Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

Hyundai is going overboard with their whole fluidic contraption. It does work for some cars ( read larger cars ) but this looks plain odd. I guess every company goes through a phase when it wants all it models too look the same.

Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

Looks pretty good. But I don't like the rear (taillamps). The current rear looks better IMO.
But there is already a thread on this: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ia-pg-2-a.html
