Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

I think the current i20 looks better than this. Seems like apart from the front, there is not much change, and the front of the current i20 looks much better. Actually, the current i20 front has a little bit (very little bit) aggressive stance, whereas this new one has a very mild smiley stance. Further, this front seems not to be in synch with the side design from A-pillar to the C-pillars. In the current i20, I always felt (and ACI had also very nicely pointed it out in their first drive of new i20 in Jan 2009) that the back design (seen from behind) was out of synch with the rest of the car. Now, with this new i20, both the front and back ends seem out of synch with the side profile.

I agree with others who said that the fluidic design looks better only on the verna.

By the way, I like these new alloys much better than the current i20 alloys.

Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

Blasphemy !
This new version seriously looks awkward.
Current i20 is still among the better looking hatches around.
But news is that AC and steering related issues will be completely sorted out as per some sources.
It is likely get more powerful compressor and the steering assembly will be redesigned.

I feel the front looks better than the present i20 but hyundai could have removed the crome in the side A/C vents. It causes too much reflection in the ORVM.

Re: Fluidic i20 on its way

The current i20 looks far better than this ugly Darth Vader facelift. It looks over done.

Its probably an attempt(again) by Hyundai to hide the i20's major flaw- its pathetic steering. With this facelift, they probably would like to claim that its a completely new model hence steering rattle issue is solved. Knowing Hyundai's Ostrich like attitude towards the infamous steering rattle issue, I am curious to know if they have done any work on the steering.

Re: Hyundai i20 Face-Lift (2012) Spotted for the first time in India on Pg. 2

Been a fan of the old i20's design and the new one just looks awkward. Infact the front looks dated with that grill and slightly lower bonnet design.

Couldn't they have fluidised the old design better, which btw I always thought resembled the Mercedes SLK (last gen) in bit and parts (the headlamp design, formula 1 type nose marking) for some reason.

The look is underplayed on this picture. It definitely will be a looker in flesh in different color. Its a matter of time to get used to it. Hope they up the safety features and gadgets.
No doubt the fluidic design is awesome on bigger cars which has the length to flaunt the lines and curves.
Hope to see it released soon.
Any idea when is the launch going to be

Looks like Hyundai went back to their original designer of first gen Santro for this car!

The new front end look too smooth to me. Specially that bonnet line.
I don't know why but it reminds me of a Toyota product.
Looks good, need to see if Hyundai has managed to make the new i20 problem free and give a better experience to its customers.

This baby has some real great potential.

Re: Hyundai i20 Face-Lift (2012) Spotted for the first time in India on Pg. 2

Hyundai's current i10 and i20 were never designed with the 'fluidic' theme in mind. So, giving them the fluidic theme does look awkward. The front end doesn't gel (feels disconnected) well with character lines in the doors and fenders.

Compare this with the Eon, Verna and their new cars where the lines kind of flow from the front to the rear. The difference is evident.

Front end reminds me a bit of civic.

Re: Hyundai i20 Face-Lift (2012) Spotted for the first time in India on Pg. 2

Looks like Hyundai had gone and wrecked something that wasn't broken at all! The face lift is a bit, in fact a lot muted as opposed to the aggressive look the new Fluidic design has infused into the other models from the Hyundai stable. The Hexagonal grill isn't complete either. The bulging headlamps reminds of Toyota, as correctly pointed out by a fellow bhp-ian. Another 'Oops i messed it' face-lift from Hyundai, after the disastrous, but fortunately short lived Verna Transform

The front end looks like a Honda Brio clone. @karty, why only the Civic the Brio also looks similar.

I hope Hyundai give is a decent AT box. The current 3+1 belongs to the age of dinosaurs. I will suggest a good CVT (much smaller, lighter, and possibly cheaper). The Gamma engine needs to be replaced with a more modern mill.
