Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

New Honda CR-V coming next month.

Honda’s next-generation CRV is based on an all-new platform and comes with a blend of both quirky yet modern details. The new car is slightly shorter than the one it replaces, but thanks to some clever interior packaging, it offers a wider and more spacious cabin with more storage spaces. The new CR-V will also come with a five-inch multi-info display screen and a multi-angle rear-view camera.

Just like the current generation CR-V, two engine choices will be on offer – a 2.0-litre petrol and a 185bhp 2.4-litre petrol, mated to a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic gearbox. Both engines have been tweaked for better fuel economy and performance.

But more importantly, Honda will now assemble the new CR-V in India. Considering that the current CR-V is a full import and has made pricing it difficult for the carmaker, the local assembly could translate into a significant reduction in terms of price.

Re: 4th Gen Honda CR-V - India Launch in Feb

Considering the FE range of petrol CR-V, it is unlikely that the increase in diesel prices would help CR-V. Most people would still prefer a diesel in that segment. Most other cars in the range need not worry much till CR-V comes with a diesel.

If it comes at less than 20L for AT variant, there could be a small drop in Superb numbers since there are people opting for petrol variant of Superb and a small fraction could opt for CR-V instead.

Agree 100% Mate. The CRV Auto returns 6.5 to a Litre. That is truly pathetic and i have 2 friends who can vouch for the fact that there BMWs are cheaper on to run in terms of fuel.

ACI have uploaded the (Indian) First Drive report of the new CRV, the link to which is attached below:

http://www.autocarindia.com/Review/3...est-drive.aspx

... & Rs.28+ Lacs ex-showroom price for a petrol only softroader is in frightening territory (as everyone has already expressed the grief on expected pricing of the vehicle in this thread). Hopefully the recent losses can bring sanity in Honda India's Boardroom & they price it sensibly (& have localised the car optimally).

It is actually the sensible thing to do for Honda. 28L tag means they've put the CR-V localization on hold and would stick to the CBU route. Even if they increase the localization and reduce the prices, they are not going to sell enough to offset the costs of localization without a diesel engine. With CBU route, they wouldn't suffer much losses because of poor sales in India.

I don't see CR-V localization to make much financial sense till they are ready with the 2.2L Earthdreams engine as an option which I feel will only happen after the Amaze launch.

For a CKD the pricing is poor. It should ideally be around 200 K

OT: Regarding the strong Yen, I have read that one yen rise against the dollar costs Toyota 30 million yen in earnings. The Japs need to look at low cost manufacturing centres for high end cars if they have to compete with Europeans.

The 28L ex-showroom is for the CBU one and not the CKD. Also the link you posted is what autocar drove in UK not in India.

After that Honda announced that the CR-V will be CKD and not CBU.

Prices should be around 24-26L in that case plus road tax will be lesser if CKD.

Hindu takes all its auto articles from Autocar India Mag, so it is essentially the same news source

Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

Honda to launch new CR-V on Feb 12.

Quote:
Just like the current generation CR-V, two engine choices will be on offer – a 2.0-litre petrol and a 185bhp 2.4-litre petrol, mated to a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic gearbox. Both engines have been tweaked for better fuel economy and performance. The smaller motor will be offered with a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic. The 2.4-litre motor will only be offered as an auto and will come with Honda's on-demand four-wheel drive system.
Honda will now assemble the new CR-V in India. Considering that the current CR-V is a full import and has made pricing it difficult for the carmaker, the local assembly could translate into a significant reduction in terms of price

Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

Siddharth V Patankar's initital impressions of 2013 Honda CR-V

Quote:
- 4th gen HondaCRV driven! First impression of the 2.0L 6 spd manual (that's what I've driven so far) coming up.
- The HondaCRV was always comfortable and easy to drive, smooth. The 4th gen exemplifies those qualities.
- Both cars- auto & manual, which I've got are dressed in 'Carnelian red'. Nice colour. Esp for shoot
- Highlight of the 2 litre manual is the superb 6 speed gearbox. Very sporty and responsive.

Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

ACI Video review:

Quote:
- 2.0L manual & 2.4L Auto variants
- 5 seater
- Eco mode for fuel efficient drive
- ONLY 2.4L Auto variant gets 6 inch touch screen, bluetooth & sunroof
- Power seats for driver, leather upholstery, cruise control, steering mounted controls, dual zone ACC etc
- Interior plastics a bit hard, design could have been better
- Front seats low on underthigh support, middle row spacious
- 2.4L 5 speed Auto with 187 bhp, 230 Nm torque
- Superb ride quality in city & highways
- CR-V feels like a low slung sedan, can be chucked around corners, steering feels a little vague
- 2L manual option loses the frills on the top end, revvs smoothly and fun to drive
- 2 styling packages offered
- brought as CKD in India

Re: Surprise: Honda begins testing the 2013 CR-V in India

Diesel Honda CR-V will be exclusive to European countries in 2013, it will be built at Honda’s manufacturing facility in Swindon.

Quote:
Honda is getting ready to market a 1.6L i-DTEC diesel engine on the 2013 Honda CR-V. The international launch of the compact diesel CR-V variant is scheduled for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show which begins in the first week of March.

The Honda CR-V diesel will be exclusive to the European markets. In fact, the new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine with EarthDreams technology comes from the European Civic
