Re: Special edition feature-rich 4WD Duster to be launched soon!

^ This article has 2 different news, which your post seems to have mixed-

First- They have launched a special edition of Duster, available at 9.9 Lakh.
Second- A 4wd version is coming later this year(Finally!! )

Re: Special edition feature-rich 4WD Duster to be launched soon!

I recall reading in one of the auto portals that the 4WD Duster will be based on the 85PS variant initially.

Maybe the turbo lag in 110PS version is to blame. Also the cost of 4WD 110PS variant could be prohibitive for many.

The bad part is the additional weight is going to screw up the highway performance even more. They definitely should launch the 4WD on the 110 PS variant as well. May be re-tune to contain the lag a bit as well!

Just add a racing chip and be done with it. That low end torque from the 85PS will be perfect for the 4wd. Cruising speed of 120 with a top whack of 140 is more than enough for our highways,

re: Renault Duster AWD launched at Rs. 11.89 lakh (pg. 15)

Zigwheel is carrying a report on the 4WD launch in October, and that too with a 110PS diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox!

Autocar guys seems confident that the duster 4x4 is coming in September. Snapshot of the tweet by their editor.

IAB also confirms the same:

Quote:
Renault India’s managing director, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, confirmed that the company will launch the Duster 4×4 by the end of this year. A tweet from Rohin Nagrani, Senior Editor of Motoring World, says that the launch is most likely to happen in September.

re: Renault Duster AWD launched at Rs. 11.89 lakh (pg. 15)

Sales of Duster are tapering off and instead of launching a 4x4 to generate to some buzz, Renault India Marketing is launching the 9.99 edition and now aparently there is some 8.xx edition. They are lowering the brand value of these cars by going down the less.xx pricing.

re: Renault Duster AWD launched at Rs. 11.89 lakh (pg. 15)

Autocar India in an article today stated that The new Duster 4x4 would be coming in with a 4x4 low , contrary to what I have heard before.

http://www.autocarindia.com/auto-new...x4-389633.aspx

Can anyone confirm this or does this seem to be an error from autocars end ?

Error, I guess. Only 4H on the export Duster. Don't think Renault will do anything different on the domestic model considering the low volumes of the 4X4 variant.

Cheers,

Fueling this thread from some info on Duster AWD. Gangs of duster members have received an invite to register for an exclusive preview of Duster AWD. I suppose the launch is just round the corner. I will register for the preview and will try to put in a review of the experience.

As per the invitation that has been sent to the Gang of Duster members, there will be a exclusive preview of the Duster AWD before it is officially launched. The location for the same is Lavasa City, Pune on 15th August from 8:00 AM onward.

Duster 4x4's have a rotary knob ahead of the gear lever, on the lower part of the centre stack. Drive mode options are : 2WD, Auto, 4WD and LOCK

This is the configuration in which the Duster's are exported from India. Don't know whether the Indian domestic market versions will be different from the export one's, but a calculated guess says it will not be.
Also the 4x4 has independent rear suspension and not the twist beam of the 2WD variant.

This is more likely. they won't create a special 4x4 duster for India.

Duster 4x4 worldwide has a 6 speed gearbox and a 110bhp engine.
