Woah AutoIndian, thank you for sharing those pics. Zest really looks nothing like TATA!!

Is it just me or did you observe the following:

1. The 3rd picture shows a huge break pedal. Automatic someone ?

2. The last picture looks like all round disc breaks. Is it just that pic or do we have some 'Scoop' here ?

Tata will really get back into the horse race in a big way if they launch Zest & Falcon with those gorgeous alloys.

Wow, a Tata Bolt or Zest with turbo petrol 1.2 engine & an AMT will be the perfect city-weekend hatchback / minisedan.

You have NOT been really following this thread, are you? Zest will be launched with AMT and yes, that's why you see the huge break pedal.

I think the AMT will be mated to the diesel. Didn't read anything about the AMT on the 1.2L Revotron though.

Not sure if you are aware, but the Zest diesel is going to come with the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) same as the Celerio. Hence there is no clutch pedal for this variant, but a huge brake pedal as you have rightly observed.

Even I felt the same at first instance, but TML's press release dated 3rd Feb clearly mentions "Vacuum Assisted Independent Hydraulic; Ventilated Disc Brakes in Front and Drum in rear"

The March'14 issue of Autocar India has the Tata Zest review on its cover page. Not sure what's inside. If any one of the TBHP members got a chance to look at this issue please share the details here. My query to the mods, was this preview/test drive arranged by TML for all the auto media & was TBHP invited for this event or was Autocar India exclusively invited for this?

It is not a review per se, rather a preview with the same cars that were present at the Auto Expo. A few of the pictures are different to what we have already seen ,there is some info about the new Revotron engine and weight reduction achieved on the Quadrajet (supposedly 50 kg lesser than before), but no driving impressions.
Build quality on the Expo cars seems to be a jump over the usual TML standard.

TATA Bolt testing continues, launch expected in second half of 2014.

Powering the Tata Bolt Petrol will be a 1.2 liter Revotron turbo petrol engine which churns out 84 bhp (5000 rpm) and 140 Nm of torque (1750-3500 rpm). The diesel Bolt will be powered by the popular 1.3 liter Multijet diesel sourced from Fiat. The petrol motor will come mated to an automated manual transmission (AMT) sourced from Magnetti Marelli, Italy

Though displayed at the Geneva Ato show, there are no plans to sell Tata Bolt, Zest in Europe. Both cars will be positioned in India to address the current gap in the personal car segment.

Tata has high hopes for the Bolt and Zest as they debut the Revotron series of petrol engines.

Differntiation in the Zest diesel will be the F-Tronic automated manual transmission and this should give the car an edge over the competition.

TATA Zest and Bolt will provide them with a new zeal that was missing since the days when Indica and Safari was first launched. They should urgently work to recapture back the MUV segment and take on the Xylo/Innova by reworking/rebranding the Sumo.

Could you please the source of this information? Not selling Zest in Europe is understandable given that the compact sedan segment is unique to India but why would TM not want to sell the Bolt there? It falls squarely in the super mini segment and this time TM seems to have got the quality and finishing right too.
