My Vista ZX 2011 has done about 80,000 kms. Thinking to replace it with a compact sedan, need a larger boot space. Can anybody guess the launch time of figo sedan?

According to a dealer, wholesale billings from Ford to dealer are starting in June. So i guess somewhere around July - August this year you can expect a launch.
Today is the Sanand plant inauguration. All Ford dealers are attending that.

Today was the inauguration of Ford's new Sanand plant and the Aspire was showcased there. I think it looks quite smart.

Oh wow! Such a nice looking and proportionate car! Should put an end to the ugly sub-4m 'sedans' that we have right now. Everything seems to be nice about it, except for the name. Reminds of Bajaj Aspire

Ford has listed the Figo Aspire on its India website. It will come with 1.2 Petrol and 1.5 TDCi engines, as speculated. No mention about the power figures though.

Ford Figo Aspire Titanium TDCI. That's a busy rear! I hate these badges and the obnoxious chrome bar. But then, when my colleague asks, "Hey have you seen the new Dzire with the Honda grill? Cool right?" I'm like all right, that's what people want.

Personally, I think Ford are quite good at designing good looking cars, except for few things that I just can't digest:

- Ugly looking Windshield sprays on the Bonnet !! I mean common Ford Folks, that design should have gone with Ambys and Padmini's, please get your design updated.

- Long Antenna above the windshield, which again is a total eyesore.

- Ford cars are in a league of their own when it comes to chassis structure and handling prowess. How much more will Ford be taxed if they introduced the Ecoboost and 90HP versions as standard on all their next launches in the higher trims (at least) ?

Please bring the good old Fiesta S and Ikon days of serious fun back to market Ford.

Absolutely! That in itself is enough to make this car the best in it's segment by far. Looks (while good, IMO) pale into insignificance by comparison.

Absolutely. Proportions are good. The chrome bar is an eyesore. I'm not so worried about the badges as we can get it de-badged. But the bar is a different animal - its in an odd place.

More details of the Figo Aspire launch.

The Ford Figo Aspire will be powered by a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine that will produce about 77bhp of power and the 1.5-litre DV5 diesel engine that will be detuned from 90bhp to about 75bhp of power.

The Figo Aspire will be offered with a five-speed manual transmissiThe top-of-the-line variant of the Figo Aspire will get artificial leather, multiple airbags, ABS, an infotainment system with a colour screen that should also get the reverse parking camera or sensors and has space for five occupants. There is a centre armrest for the rear passengers.

The centre console is similar to the Ford Ecosport and it also gets piano black finish and there is a climate control system for the Titanium. Then there is the new instrument cluster with three dials. The side AC vents are round and have been picked up from the currently sold Ford Figo.

This should click for Ford in India, the Figo Aspire. Dare I say, the Figo Aspire looks very proportionate to my eyes. I never thought I would say that for a sub-4m sedan.



It looks good, comes loaded with safety features (Side & curtain airbags) and creature comforts (SYNC) and hopefully possess the segment's best ride and handling compromise. Bring it on, Ford!
