re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

This could really be what people spending more time in rural areas owning Bolero could upgrade to. My elder brother is considering to buy if it would offer a hassle free ownership. He is running into far too many problems with his current Bolero and doesnt like it spending more time in the City for repairs.
For City dwellers, I feel they have missed a chance with the build design. Need to see the actual quality that if offers in materials.

Anyways, subtle mods from my PS to make this a slightly better looking in my opinion.
Do you consider it looks a bit like the erstwhile Sumo Grande?

Is this the next-generation Mahindra Bolero (U301)? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300

MSIL has successfully launched so many foreign models then discontinued those that don't sell, same thing with Hyundai with recent launch of ix25 aka Creta and I could sight a few more examples.....In this aggressive market such aggressive moves have every potential to turn company profits around in urban market where those very same models you mentioned are lackluster. That's a larger part of the decision to be made by strategy drivers of the company on whether to stay conservative and shy away from innovation.

So many foreign products are brands of choice ranging from Kellogg's to our Hanes! Although very price sensitive we buy what's convincing to us in the end.

Auto industry should be no different.

I agree with you on the point of bringing in better products to the market but for a mass manufacturer, I think you need to look into couple of factors
1. volumes sold in urban market vs rural market
2. brand/product positioning.

Now, M&M's clear strength is rural market (check the figures of Scorpio and Bolero vs XUV and Xylo(passenger vehicles, not taxi)). So, it's unlikely they'll bring in a product like Tivoli which will not go for that kind of numbers in rural market. Also, the pricing has to be realistic. If, for a thought they bring in Tivoli, it has to be priced below XUV and par with Scorpio. Now, it has every possibility of cannibalising Scorpio in urban market where Scorpio enjoys a strong following.

As for as the brand positioning, M&M is very clear of positioning SsangYong as their premium offering especially in India. Hence, it is very unlikely to expect Tivoli to be launched in India at a lesser price. If they do so, they would be contradicting their own policy of having a higher brand product(Tivoli) priced lesser than their own product(XUV).

Remember, M&M offer Rexton in their own showrooms unlike Maruti which has got Nexa as their premium offering brand with exclusive showrooms. Don't see Mahindra taking that route for SsangYong in India. It looks more like they want to have the brand in India and are not worried about the volumes they sell through it (check the volumes of Rexton, every dealer is bleeding with their aging stock).

Finally, the ASS for Rexton alone will need a separate thread in this forum. Unless they improve it, it is highly impossible for them to succeed with other SsangYong products.

Looks like, the interiors have been spied once again, I found these posted on IAB:

Do I see the absence of music player in the second - possibly the lowest variant? In the third pic, the power window controls are shown between the gear lever and the handbrake. Probably, a cost cutting measure?

The First pic seems that of the top end variant whereas the second and third pic seems to be of the base variant.

Yes, looks like there is no music player in the lower variant. The 2nd and 3rd picture does not have steering mounted controls and hence it could be lower variant. But I think there is provision for music system is my guess as marked in the picture below. Not sure if it would take 2 DIN ICE as it has two compartments and the top one is small.

The other item I see missing from 2nd and 3rd picture is the hand rest for both driver and front notice is there is not hand rest for driver and the front passenger.

It is surely the lower variant, judging by the absence of stereo and silver inserts on the steering wheel.

The interiors are not bad except the power window switches on the centre console. Why is M&M so obsessed with that position??

The Power Window Switch positions puts me off. The Beige dashboard will reflect a lot. I am not going to buy this.

Looks like we would have a lot of space for Aftermarket add ins. It will be interesting if the set of 4 fog lights shown in Mahindra's initial sketch comes as a part of the accessory list.

Hope the vehicle drives well and not to mention priced well.

Our wish list is never too long isn't it ?
