Our friend Bharath Vijayarangan sent this from Chennai Today.
By the TN19 plates that the test mule carries makes me believe it's a Ford.. Any one with confirmed news around this?

It is Mahindra's S201 compact SUV- Ssangyong Tivoli based CUV.

This is a Ssangyong Tivoli wearing a Mahindra grille

I am sceptical to believe this as a Mahindra due to the TN19 but yes it resembles the S201.. no denying that

Spotted testing near the Tumkur toll plaza by a Motoroids reader.

The spied vehicle is the base variant, evident by the fact that it has steel rims and some very basic looking headlamps. The projector headlamps seen on the Tivoli have given way to a simple halogen bulb and reflector setup in the base variant of the car. The more expensive version may get projectors with DRLs though.
The S201 test mule was draped in heavy camouflage with faux tail-lamps. While the vehicle seems to be watered down in terms of exterior appearance, clear similarities can be seen between the test mule and the Tivoli. The test vehicle gets plastic undercladding running all around along with high ground clearance and a very square, boxy, SUV-ish appearance to underline its go-anywhere capability.

Why TN plates? Does that mean Ford has started helping Mahindra as per their strategic relationship.

Because Mahindra has its R&D team in Chennai.

Apart from whatever minor external differences observed by readers between the two iterations (Ssangyong Tivoli / Mahindra S201) it seems to me that the ground clearances between the two are also different - one being higher than the other.

Spotted this in MWC today. Looks like this is the top variant and the car is under final testing as you can also spot a KUV100 in the picture that was leading this car. Alloys look sporty and although not clear, looks like it has all 4 discs. Launch seems to be soon.

Cheers
Srinath

Seems like Mahindra had made substantial progress here and appears to be in production form. They are also trying to be significantly different from Tivoli (note that the licence plates in the rear moved up) I personally like the alloy wheel design too...Hope that Mahindra will finally get it right this time after sheer waste of time, resources and money with products like kuv, tuv and nuvosport

I must have a jaundiced eye - this one and all the other "C-SUVs" seem more or less alike to me. Probably because they all appear to have sprung from the same roots - the inverted jelly-mould hatch-on-stilts-&-steroids original!:D.

OT : The exception being the TUV - that one is certainly an original. Ugly perhaps, but as bad-ass looking as it gets! Invaluable if one wants to be taken seriously as an SUV.

Scoop! Mahindra S201 spied with production-spec tail lamps

Thanks to Mahesh Ramani for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Mahindra has been testing the Ssangyong Tivoli-based compact SUV (codenamed: S201) since 2017. Early prototypes have been spotted with pre-production headlights and tail lights. Now, new spy images have revealed what appear to be the car's production-spec tail lamp clusters.

The spy images indicate that the Tivoli-based S201 will get triangular LED tail lights. The rear features a raked windshield and a roof spoiler on top, while the rear bumper houses a set of reflectors.

Although, Mahindra is yet to confirm the engines that will be offered on its upcoming sub-4 meter SUV, it has been reported that it could get a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The Mahindra S201 will compete with cars like the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon in the Indian market. Mahindra is also working on a 7-seater version of the Tivoli that is likely to take on the Hyundai Creta.
