True. I don't understand why we need to bring in patriotic angle everywhere. Qualis back in the nineties had hardly any competition. Agreed that it was an outdated model worldwide, but it's competition in India were even more outdated which is why it did well.

In any case, irrespective of whether a car does well or not, should not stop us from voicing our opinions.

Anyways coming to the topic, Wether TuV 300 plus will do well or not, time will tell. I doubt though wether it will cannibalise Scorpio. I think they target different set of customers.

As a famous Mr. Jobs once said "if you don't cannibalize yourself, someone else will gladly do it for you".

Maruti faces the same situation in the 4 - 8 lakh hatchback space and is enjoying it!

Majority of people didn't know [back then] as to what Toyota was, it was their first offering.

There was no Google for most to check and it was on Qualis to establish the Toyota brand in India, which it did, if not because of how it looked, surely because of its strengths. Overdrive had all the guys in their team then and had the Qualis as their long-termer and everyone was all praise for it.

As far as our indigenous manufacturers go, Tata appears to be marching ahead as far as design goes, this TUV and most recent launches are fugly from Mahindra.

This is where IMO, M&M is confused. They don't know as to whom to target, they are launching it, as they could launch an extended version.

Scorpio in its S3 and S5 variant has established itself and I think, cannibalizing that isn't going to happen. Not in the next 3-4 years at least.

Model in picture is the entry level P4 grade.

Reports say that customers will have more seating layout options in other grades.

I am waiting to see the TUV 300+ in P10 variant. I am hoping, it'll be loaded to the brim and comes in an automatic variant.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

This could be a game changer for MM, apart from the looks this thing looks very practical. Currently there are no modern SUV's or MUV's which can seat more than 7 people. This will be the selling point of this car.

The rear seats remind me about Toyota Qualis were in one had to sit with knees pointing the sky, in that comparison Tata Sumo had better side facing seats.

Car looks better with body-coloured bumpers, or am I getting used to the design ???

This could fill the gap left by base version Innova, better loaded version might take the sales away from both scorpio and XUV 5oo.

Put up body coloured bumpers and the vehicle starts looking good visually. Wonder why Mahindra chose to seed the market with those contraptions with grey bumpers - marketing disaster!

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

I saw a couple of these TUV300 Plus on the road during my visit to the a village yesterday. Both were white in color, grey bumpers and registered with yellow plates. From the visual condition, they seemed a couple of months old and were cruising ~80kmph on smooth roads. I saw them from the front and three quarters. Only by looking at the extra length on the side could I know that they were the Plus variants.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Before anything, Government should consider banning those jump seats. Not only they are uncomfortable, they way too unsafe. Ideally they should have replaced ageing Xylo with TUV300+ atleast until the new MPV is launched. With launching a taxi variant, It is going to impact the TUV 300 sales with which this car shares its front.

The British were doing it long before we learned the ropes! The British motoring press of the 70's were rife with stories of Ford & Vauxhall using the public as testing labs.
So yes, we had some great teachers.

It's been over 6 months, that the base variant deliveries were started; What happened to the TUV 300 plus? Has this model been put into cold-storage?

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Saw a Privately registered (white plate) Dehradun registration (UK07) TUV300 Plus going from Dehradun towards Rishikesh in Jolly Grant this morning around 9AM. Why is Mahindra not launching this vehicle properly and only selling it to a select few customers? If the product is ready for market introduction, give it a proper launch and start selling it. Why the delay? It had same Black front and rear bumpers, so I am assuming it was the P4 variant only.
