Similarly Aurangabad Police will opt for the Octavia/Superb and the Pune police would go for the Mercedes cruiser. hehe

Police fleets tend to be huge so they probably prefer someone closer to home. Logistics are much simpler that way.

Around 2009 we will hear about Chennai Police receiving 100 BMW's. How many people consider it as a possibility ?

the accents are to be driven by Sub-Inspectors with a constable riding alongside. there is no necessity for any senior police officer to 'scramble' for an accent as they are already provided with cars & even if they want to, travelling in a cop car is not really 'class'.

Some of the top cops like commissioner, DCP etc used to travel in white ambassadors with one red dome on top. Dunno if they have switched to Esteems or Safaris.

Saw one today!

The Police Accent looks AWESOME.
Especially in the flesh with its siren on the roof. They definitely resemble the police cruisers in hollywood movies.
Dayum!!!
PS: Cant wait for the Ford to join the donation contest with its Fiesta

More likely it would be the Ikon 1.3, which is on its last legs like the Accent.

But if they have to give the Fiesta, why not the 'limited edition sports' model, which seemingly nobody likes.

Dunno about that man. The Lancer pretty much has the rebel, fight-the-man, illegal street-racing cred going for it. Would be weird to see cops on a souped-up lancer chasing our indica taxis. Cops need a large, fast cruiser; the Accent CRDI fits the bill perfectly.

I think Japan has EVO cop cars though, and there's a Gallardo cop car somewhere in Italy. My roomate was driving from Sacramento to LA once and he got pulled over by a highway patrolman in a camaro
