Current cop cars in Mumbai are:

1. Toyota Qualis (old as well as facelifted)
2. Mahindra Bolero (old as well as facelifted)
3. Chevrolet Tavera
4. Some Maruti Omnis (!)

Civil Police Cars are either dark blue and white (or just plain white) in colour with yellow red and blue stripe running across the sides whereas the traffic cops have zebra stripes running across the sides. Sirens are irritating. They have either one or two dome shaped orange beacons.

There are some Boleros which are completely black with only discrete police lettering above the windshield/rear window. I guess they are used as undercover vehicles or to ferry criminals to courts.

Ironically, outside Mumbai the "Maharashtra Police" Sumo Victas have better looking graphics with proper international style red and blue police lights.

In Goa the police use the Gypsy mostly. There are a few MM540's. The Interceptors are Qualis' or Esteems.

The Reva is so cool. If you think about it, its not a bad idea. How many times do we have car chases in India after all? In the unlikely event that the Reva finds itself chasing a faster car, they can always call backup and stick in there until backup arrives. (Not to mention a chase in a crowded city would probably benefit the Reva )

Chandigarh police has revas mainly for duty on the sukhna lake and sec 17.Basically both crowded public places.Otherwise they have a network of gypsies called interceptors with radar guns , breath analyser, speed cameras and maybe even the kitchen sink.

On one of my visits to Goa (a good 7-8 years ago) I remember Honda CRVs being used as cop cars, 'i think' it said Tourist Police on the flanks. I wasnt 100% when I was there, thus 'i think'.
