Re: Toyota & Suzuki to supply cars to each other in India

Brezza based C-SUV of Toyota could be called Urban Cruiser as per this report of Autocar India. It's supposedly in line with naming like Land Cruiser!

PS: If memory serves me right, Maruti had registered A Cross name when S Cross was being launched in India

A CROSS was trademarked by Maruti Suzuki sometime in 2014.

Re: Toyota & Suzuki to supply cars to each other in India

Let us hope they bring it here fully loaded with AWD and AT.
And not try to try and flog it with their 1.2 or 1.5 petrol.

Re: Toyota & Suzuki to supply cars to each other in India

I don't think the RAV4 will ever reach on Indian Roads in Its current shape. RAV4 is one of Toyota's best selling Compact/Mid segment SUVs in the international market, where it competes with CRV and the likes. Its very unlikely that Toyota will let one of their best selling models to go down to Suzuki Standards.

Since Maruti will provide Toyota with the mass market cars, I wish they utilized this collaboration to source a decent TC transmission from Toyota and put an end to their current 4 speed.

This is a good looking car most unlike a Suzuki and therefore will not make it to India. Take a look at the four door Jimny renditions if you have any misgivings. Only ugly, pedestrian and lowbrow products are earmarked for Indian mass market consumption. A few premium products are thrown our way but at an extremely high cost to bear on the hapless Indian consumer.

Re: Toyota & Suzuki to supply cars to each other in India

Came across this yesterday while driving down from Madurai. Apparently used by a Aanamalis Toyota, Madurai to provide home service to Toyota cars. Brings in a new prospect after the Glanza and Urban Cruiser modification! Wonder what the Eeco be called as? Maybe Lo-Ace

Maruti not to get Vitara Brezza produced at Toyota plant, to replace it with another model.

Quote:
It however did not disclose the name of the model which will now be produced at the TKM plant where work is temporarily suspended due to an issue between the worker union and management.
Quote:
Last year in March, the MSI board had approved allowing production of Vitara Brezza at TKM's Bidadi plant starting 2022.

looks like this dealer has taken badge engineering in his own hands at local level and decided to stick T badge on Eeco.

Toyota and Maruti to jointly produce Creta challenger from 2022.

Quote:
Maruti Suzuki has informed the stock exchange about the revision in its plans for the production of the Vitara Brezza at alliance partner Toyota’s plant from 2022 onwards. The vehicle to be manufactured at Toyota’s facilities in Bidadi, Karnataka has now been changed to another model which, according to our sources, is the Japanese carmakers’ answer to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Toyota taste success in badge engineered cars:

Toyota Sells More Maruti Rebadged Cars Than Their Own – Urban Cruiser, Glanza Overtake Innova, Fortuner and others.
