2018 Honda Jazz launched at Rs. 7.35 lakh

Comparing features of "V" variant in 2017 Jazz Vs 2018 Jazz in a sheet below for MT and CVT both.

2018 Honda Jazz launched at Rs. 7.35 lakh-jazz-feature-changes.jpg

Honda has silently removed Electrically Foldable ORVMS and turn indicator on ORVMS from both 2018 Jazz V MT and V CVT.

2018 Jazz V CVT is good value for money as compared to V MT IMHO.

With only 9K more in 2018 Jazz V CVT compared to 2017 Jazz V CVT, Honda offers good features like Cruise control , Push Button, Smart Key, Front Center Armrest & more.

Interesting to see that i20 has priced their CVT at par with Baleno at Rs. 7,05,000 and Honda is still aiming for premium customers at Rs. 8,55,000. Their strategy to make money on Jazz is beyond me. Can people relate to their pricing?

Completely surprised by the pricing, but then again, Honda has been surprising me, in a not so good way, for a while now with regards to the pricing of their cars (exception would be the new Amaze). Wonder if Honda wants to completely phase out the car by pricing it at such a premium in comparison to it's competitors?

Hyundai i20 Magna CVT (one that's advertised for 7 lakhs) is pretty barebones when compared to Jazz V CVT. The i20 Asta CVT may be compared to the the Jazz V CVT, and the Honda comes out dearer by about 30k.

But Honda has cut features too (and added some) on the refreshed Jazz.

If I'm not mistaken, the magic seats are now gone from all variants, correct? That is a big shame, that was a great USP of the earlier iterations of the Jazz.

Nonetheless, the Jazz is a great car (feels more roomy than my EcoSport), the Honda badge commands great respect in specific circles, and Honda have addressed some of the missing points w.r.t. the competition with this edition of the Jazz.

Re: 2018 Honda Jazz launched at Rs. 7.35 lakh

Are they not interested in selling the Jazz at all? To call this an update is also a joke. They just got new variants!

Start/Stop button was sorely missed vs the competition and so was parking sensors. These are the major changes.

Internationally facelift is out which looks really nice. Other than bumper, grill, headlight not much has changed in the international version. Was that too much as well for India?

Same 1.2L engine. Not even trying something different with the 1.5L like Ford atleast a 1.5L CVT would have worked. They don't want cannibalization with City but they are ok with customers to look outside honda for a sporty hatch. lol.

Amaze gets diesel CVT. Why not try that here?

This is really a half hearted effort. Basically a new ZX variant has been introduced but they are making people think it's an update/refresh.

There is something about Honda and Jazz. They just never seem to be in sync with eachother, sometimes with the pricing, sometimes with the features and sometimes both which is sadly the case here. The Baleno will continue to enjoy it's free run and I am sure it will also lose sales numbers to compact SUVs like Nexon.

Re: 2018 Honda Jazz launched at Rs. 7.35 lakh

Clearly, this is a lame effort from Honda. What are they thinking? It appears the folks at Honda don't want the Jazz to succeed in India. The WR-V and the City - two cars which share the Jazz's platform - are positioned higher and therefore fetch more revenue and profits. That explains the lack of support to this brilliant hatchback.

Ridiculous pricing, features that the Jazz should have originally got being introduced, removing Magic Seats (the car's single biggest USP) and refraining from launching the international facelift (which itself is a mild nip and tuck), absence of diesel CVT and powerful petrol options - Honda might as well discontinue the Jazz instead of giving it this step-motherly treatment.

Terrible "update" for a promising car. Looking at the Jazz's pricing, it's no wonder than only blind Honda aficionados seem to buy this car.

Am I missing something? Feature to feature, the top end Baleno CVT is now less than VX CVT of Honda Jazz, and the pricing difference is about 20-30k only.

Re: 2018 Honda Jazz launched at Rs. 7.35 lakh

I feel the update is good enough to sustain another couple of years.

Granted there's no actual facelift. But they have added a lot more features for a very less increase in price.

I am honestly happy to have a hatch with reliable automatic transmission and cruise control along with paddles, not counting the GT because of concerns over DSG and the smaller rear bench along with the trunk. It will be be a reliable companion all through its years and its packaging is unbeatable.

It justifies the price IMHO.

Hoping they get the 1.5L engine into the Jazz some day. If they can share the diesel engine with City, I think it's only the tax that's prohibiting them from putting this in the hatch.

V MT 1.5L at the price of 1.2L V AT would be great I suppose.

You summed it up perfectly. The Jazz is one of the few truly 'global' cars this side of 15 lakhs, and Honda just can't seem to get it right. In fact, Honda can't seem to get hatchbacks right (remember the Brio?).

This applies to Toyota too, they haven't got any of their global models to India, other than the niche Corolla and Camry.

I think the whole purpose of this 'facelift' was -
1. To bring the Jazz up to speed with the segment in terms of equipment
2. To move the positioning upwards. They've discontinued the base and mid-spec variants and kept the top 2. Similar to the previous gen which was offered in a small number of variants, with even the lowest variant being well equipped

All things said and done, it's an excellent car, and one that deserves better treatment.
